Yep, I'll fully admit the defenseman in me would think exactly that. I've got a job to do, I'm going to do it CLEANLY and not to injure, but I'm not going to wait until he turns his head to look at me.

I know you don't like that, so this is about where we politely shake hands and move on to other topics, as per usual.

Absolutely disgusting that Bergeron's goal last night was not counted....why have video review if something as clear as that is deemed not sufficient enough to overturn.

I admit the one view from the side it looks in, but from the overhead it looks like it's not 100% over. If I was a Bruins fan I'd probably be pissed but if one looks yes and one looks not quite, they go with what the call was on the ice.

looks like a good call to me

nothing conclusive, calls on ice stand...pretty straight forward

I am obviously biased here but...that view from the side of the net is pretty clear that is completely across the line and on Bobby Lou's pad..
either way another disappointing stretch run by the B's. I think it might finally be the Cap's year in the East.

I have to agree here. Is it over? Probably. But it's obstructed so you can't 100% tell and add in the overhead doesn't show it either so they can't award it.

i wouldn't necessarily call the Pens and Wings "rivals" in your typical connotation of the word, but it was semi-heated from '08--11ish

and they seem to always play entertaining games against each other. really fun to watch, especially when Malkin is healthy

add the fact that there's a lot on the line tomorrow and i think we're in for some entertaining hockey

edit: especially with the Pens wanting to bounce back from last night...yikes

We can debate that for hours, but the real question is...How can I have a GoPro/camera on my chest when I play rat hockey, but the NHL can't get a camera in the net to see that shit better?

Back-to-back appearances in the Stanley Cup Final will create a semblance of a rivalry.

    And last night, woof.

Hoping it's a good game. Well a good game meaning both teams play well or Wings kick ass. You guys probably only like one of those options.

Yeah 08 and 09 will do that. Pens and fans hated Wings for 08 and Wings and fans hated Pens for 09. It made for some good games the following couple years. I remember the 2010 game where Howard got up into Crosby's face at the end it was pretty intense.

I just saw the score from last night and was shocked. That bad huh?

I also wouldn't mind option C: Wings fail to show up and Pens win 6-0.

08 and 09 were some good times. I remember in 2009, I went to the Arena to watch Game 4 (I believe) on "Mario's TV," the big screen outside. It was a home game, and every time somebody walked into the Arena with a Wings jersey, the crowd by the screen booed that person heartily.

^ They just didn't have it last night. Bad mistakes. Fleury had shit game. And a young goalie, Steve Wedgewood, was making his second NHL start for the Devils. The Pens seem to make such goalies look like Martin Brodeur.

yea, Pens had 39 shots but NO traffic at all. and our power play is TERRIBLE without Malkin...its killing us

    PP with Malkin: 27.3% (38 for 139)
    PP w/o Malkin: 6.5% (3 for 46)

Yeah, they either get shut out or score 4-6 these days.

Also, Matta week-to-week with a lower body injury.

i'll be honest, i think Maatta has been hurt for a while. his skating has been noticeably slower and less agile

luckily this year is the complete opposite of last year at this point...instead of only having 5 (literally, 5) defensemen playing every night, we are flush with bodies on the blue line...time for Ben Lovejoy or Derek Pouliot to get back on the ice

Wings don't score a lot either and it's like they can't put it together for a full game. Their best games recently were against the Rangers a couple weeks ago, the Leafs the next night and then against FLA the other day. Had to score in the last minute to tie against the Rags and win in ot, lost 1-0 to the Leafs and beat the Cats 5-3 but were down 3-1 at one point. Last night it was a bad start but they weathered it and then played great for like 30 minutes only to play like shit for 10 and let them back in it. One night with no stress would be nice. So fucking frustrating because this team is better than, this they just have almost no confidence. When they went up 3-0 they looked like they were flying high and I thought "maybe this will get them going." but almost blowing the lead probably brings the doubt back in.

I hope that the game is so terrible and it's a sloppy game where there are no goals and it goes to shootout and they go through their entire lineup and no one can even get a shot on net and the War Room decides to stop the game and award each team negative ten points

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read they are going to have cameras in the goal posts (and maybe even blue lines) for the playoffs.

Side note, really hope the Red Wings make the dance. Love that streak.

Looked like it was in to me as well.

It is pathetic that they don't have better replay viewing equipment. The screens they are looking at are the size of a large smart phone or small tablet. It is the NHL, not pee-wee leagues, you'd think they can afford better equipment.

NHL.com had an article about blue line camera's for the playoffs last week. Sure they will be beneficial on an offsides review but I am not sure how they could help with determining whether a puck crossed the line and gets counted or discounted as a goal.

The ones in the goal posts surely would.
