No, it was not part of the film. Although, I went to a screening with a Q&A with the cast/director. Someone had asked a question about it and the director stressed that that was not the case. I don't know... believe what you want I guess.

Most people really enjoyed it, but that movie just did not sit well with me. "Baby" was a huge douche (when he goes and fetches the coffees after the first major scene I almost left the theater) and the whole thing with the earbuds always on and the cliche everything left me feeling totally uninterested (actually pissed off that I spent $15 to see it.) What are others' thoughts on the movie?

I pretty much felt like you. None of the acting did much for me either.

the director is wrong. there is overwhelming evidence that says he did it.

It's not without faults, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It had a good heart. I liked Baby's character.

Seriously. Even watching it on ESPN Classic when I was ~12, it looked clear to me something was off.

I watched the original for the first time last year. I wasn't that impressed, but that's probably mostly because I'm generally not impressed with the strange style choices of 80's sci-fi movies. That was just kind of a strange time for movie making. Those movies tend to hold up better in the recollection/memory than on rewatch. In my opinion, don't set your expectations too high. I'm looking forward to the new one though for sure.

The original is an all-time favorite for me. So excited to see words like "masterpiece" and "groundbreaking" being thrown around to describe the new one.

I have a feeling that watching for the first time in 2017, it will feel dated.

Ya know I never imagined I would say this, I'm the most surprised to see I'm typing this out, but... I actually DIDN'T hate the latest trailer for the new reboot movie of Jumanji. I mean I don't know still that I'd bother seeing it in the theater, but it's moved up to even maybe on video.

I only just saw it myself I think no more than 4-5 years ago. And saw it very late at night, which helped give it a certain vibe. Yea technically I don't know how you couldn't say it's "dated" at least somewhat, given it's in 1982, but I really don't think to a detrimental level. There is one particular stunt scene that's pretty rough, where it's absurdly obvious it's a stunt person in there instead of the original actor, but it totally deserves the legacy it has. granted it's got like 5 friggin different versions at this point, with all the narration controversy.

meh, I'm definitely not on the Rock ra-ra train, that him being in a movie is an automatic plus or anything. Though as a Doctor Who fan I dig that Karen Gillan's in it.

the sequel/remake element, actually I'm still not entirely sure. Actually from the latest trailer, they sort of imply that it maybe is a sequel, but I think that may have been thrown in JUST for the trailer. like there's definitely not going to be any character holdovers from the first movie. And it's using the game in an entirely different way, in the 90s it was just a board game, but here it's as a console video game, so to be able to make fun of a bunch of those tropes.

been meaning to mention, I saw LOGAN LUCKY a couple days ago. First of all, I was impressed to see it really was like pretty much as elaborate of a heist movie as the Oceans 11 stuff was, but also the girl that played Channing Tatum's daughter. Holy shit. To be that young yet already have such a command of the talent she's got for being so natural. It just blows me away to see actors this young are so locked in to knowing what they're doing. I still remember in the time shortly after The Sixth Sense first came out, M Night talking about how lucky he'd been to find Haley Joel Osment, after he'd written a role that was virtually impossible for like an 8 year old to play.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Rewatched "Split" and 500 Days of Summer. Both are still awesome.

One funny thing with 500 Days of Summer: it's pretty interesting to watch it years later from a whole new perspective. The 24 year old me watching this vs. the 32 year old me, you see things quite differently. The first viewing was "Poor guy, she was such a bitch." Years later, while she still made a lot of mistakes, he also should've done things differently.

Blade Runner is amazing and hard to believe you haven't seen it! But yes, it probably will definitely not have the same impact if you watch it now and feel dated for sure. But you should still watch it.
