I don't know if I'd care enough to do it if I didn't own the place. But no it's not difficult.

Turn the breaker off to the room you're doing it in
Remove the plate (1 screw)
Remove the outlet (2 screws)
There'll either be two wires or four, removed by either loosening screws or pushing in a "button" that releases them. A ground wire might be connected too.
Reconnect similarly to the new outlet. ($2-$3) and reinstall into the box

It's a little tedious and annoying sometimes working on the floor and with the 4" of slack wire but not difficult

Always thought minor repairs were left up to the tenant.

Was waiting on some shipping details on my phone and it turns out it's coming from CA. So much for getting it on Friday or Saturday.

Hilarious what women think is mansplaining... I don't know how any person with a brain could ever give this any credence.

Doesn't sound too bad at all. We're tearing up the carpet in the living room this summer, so this can be another project we do.

I would leave anything electrical (no matter how easily diy it is) to the landlord. Something goes wrong and causes a fire, you don't want to be on the hook for that. Just always been my process.

She just found out her flight is delayed and wont land until 6:30ish it makes no sense for me to hang out in the city for 2 hours and wait. the next train after she lands, that we can reasonably expect to get, is the 7:30; and if we miss that, the next one isn't until 8:45.

so now i'll take a train home, get my car, stop at home for a few minutes, and then drive into the city to get to the airport.

    god damn flight delays

i considered staying in the city. i'm a fan of ponying up to the bar at the train station while waiting. but the problem is if we dont make that 7:30 train, and there's a decent chance that could happen, we're sticking around for a while afterwards to wait for the next one at 8:45, and not getting home till probably 9:45 which i have ZERO interest in. and mrs testaverde will appreciate that, with a 10 month old at home

so i'll take an express train home, grab my car, swing home for a bit, and plan to get to airport for 7. outbound traffic should be minimal by then

AAA got to the parking garage but the truck wouldnt fit thru the gate. Driver tried jump starting my car and failed just like i did. Then tried shifting it into neutral to push it towards the gate but it wont shift. So now its gonna sit there overnight and I'll take the day off to get it figured out, i hope

You cant make this shit up

    sooooo after all this BS...

took yesterday off to figure out what the hell i was gonna do about the car that wouldnt start. my go-to mechanic is across the street from the parking garage so i went there to see if they could help by walking over and looking at it. they were short-staffed so they couldnt do it, and they said it's illegal to do work on a car in a parking garage anyways.

so i called AAA again and an hour later the guy shows up to attempt to tow the car out. he does a quick diagnosis and learns that one of the battery terminals was shot and was barely holding the cable on. he jerry-rigged it, the car started up on its own, and i was able to get it to a car parts store where, $6.90 and 5 minutes of work in the parking lot later, i had a perfectly good car again.

it cost me $24 to get my car out of the parking garage yesterday, more than it cost to fix the damn thing

I remember when I was in high school and started working at Culver's. It sucked and they scheduled me to work all day on a Saturday when all I wanted to do was go to open gym for basketball, so I just called up and said I quit.

He won't be getting any monetary return on the investment, obviously, but it may be worth his time and money to him to make the house more enjoyable while he lives in it. An outlet replacement is like $1 and 5 minutes. Carpet rip out... yea, much bigger investment. I wouldn't do anything that big in a rental. But if I was going to live there for a few years, I may spend the money to paint the inside how I liked it (assuming that was allowed) or something along those lines.

I don't really get the concept of casual fridays. probably because I am a total bum. to me, if it's not athletic shorts or sweatpants, it's an equivalent amount of discomfort. suit pants, khakis, or jeans are all the same level of uncomfortability to me so being able to wear jeans rather than suit pants makes no difference in my enjoyment

I think I had to return my uniform, even though they made me pay for it prior to starting.

I definitely don't regret it either. I tried working twice in high school during the school year and then said fuck it. Just wasn't worth it and I was pretty busy with sports and stuff.

This. I used to work for Creative Labs and since it was a call center, there was no true dress code. One guy in the RMA warehouse would constantly wear sleeveless shirts and another girl would always be wearing pajama pants.
