Listening to 'Sunshower' right now. Just a great song. Was never a huge Soundgarden or Audioslave fan, but his voice on a stripped down song like 'Sunshower' is very nice.

Really sad news and I'm still shocked and Black Hole Sun is definitely one of my favorite Soundgarden songs. Cornell sure had an iconic voice. He will be missed.

Was more of an AIC and STP fan, but always thought Cornell was a talented likeable guy. Sad all these guys went too young.

    RIP
Loved Vaseline. Liked STP more but that more because Core came out while I was in college and they were "around" first. I was a grunge first guy in college until I heard a song called Satellite on the Radio.

All these guys are going too fast. Agreed.

So sad, read this on a pj fb page.
The last song from the show in Detroit last night. Skip to 6:36 to hear where he cuts into "In My Time Of Dying" by Bob Dylan/Led Zeppelin.

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home

Well, well, well, so I can die easy [x2]
    Jesus, going to make up

Jesus, going to make up my dying bed
    Meet me, Jesus, meet me
Meet me in the middle of the air
If my wings should fail me, Lord
Please meet me with another pair

Well, well, well, so I can die easy [x2]
    Jesus, going to make up

    Somebody, somebody
    Jesus going to make up
Jesus going to make you my dying bed
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
    Jesus, going to make up
    Somebody, somebody
    Jesus going to make up
Jesus going to make you my dying bed

Oh, Saint Peter, at the gates of heaven
    Won't you let me in
    I never did no harm
    I never did no wrong
Oh, Gabriel, let me blow your horn, let me blow your horn
Oh, I never did, did no harm
I've only been this young once
I never thought I'd do anybody no wrong
    No, not once
Oh, I did somebody some good
    Somebody some good
    Oh, did somebody some good
I must have did somebody some good
    Oh, I believe I did
    I see the smiling faces
I know I must have left some traces
And I see them in the streets
And I see them in the field
And I hear them shouting under my feet
And I know it's got to be real
    Oh, Lord, deliver me
    All the wrong I've done
    You can deliver me, Lord
I only wanted to have some fun
Hear the angels marching, hear them marching, hear them marching
    Hear them marching, the' marching

Oh my Jesus, oh my Jesus, oh my Jesus [x3]
Oh my Jesus, oh my Jesus
    It's pretty good up here
Oh Georgina, oh Georgina, oh Georgina, oh Georgina
    Oh I'll see you again
Oh, don't you make it my dying, dying, dying

I think it was an extra rack on his first solo album. It was also on the Great Expectations soundtrack.

Absolutley, listed as #9 all time by Rolling Stone READERS when they asked for votes and in reality when you look at the singers he's listed with only Plant and Mercury could compare for range and tone.

The greatest voice of his/my generation.

Been thinking about this most of the day, Cornell was one of my favorites and as a vocalist myself someone I definitely looked up to. The one chance I got to see him last year in Worcester was amazing.

"You know how I know Worchesester is a good city? Because even if you say it right it still sounds fucked up. You can get pulled over by the police and when they ask you where you are say Worcashesster, they'll just be like yep works for me!"

Shocking, horrific news. It was bad enough that he passed but to think he took his own life is just unthinkable. This has hit me harder than any celebrity death since LeRoi. What a legend and incredible talent.

It's still awful, but in terms of severity of his state of mind, it would be better than suicide. However, when people engage in that activity there still is risk, so it's still an unfortunate thing that happened.
