Justified has the writing, acting and backstory to sell those moments. A guy can be "disarmed" or rob a mine and it's earned because the show has spent hours cultivating the relationships and moving the pieces around. Banshee just checks cinemax boxes and calls it a day.
Tits? Check. Violence? Check. Crazy bad guys? Check. Gore? Check. The acting, writing and directing are terrible. The main character might be one of the worst actors on television. Frankie Faison is the only worthwhile person on the roster. Things happen for no reason. Hey, let's go rob the state museum, stage a ridiculous, poorly filmed getaway, then not explain the why or how.
The idea that he's a sheriff in a small PA Amish town is utterly wasted. There's no exploration of the culture or Amish politics or anything that sets it apart from Anywhereville, America. Justified is so good at making Harlan feel like a unique, lived in Kentucky town; the show is strongest when it explores those dynamics. Banshee just sets up shop and proceeds to start beating ass/fucking chicks/robbing stuff.
Had high hopes for Banshee, especially after cinemax showed it could do action drama well with Hunted and Strikeback, but it's just awful.
