Re: The Harry Potter thread.

my favourite parts of the movie (spoiler warning, spoiler space, highlight to see):

Quote:
Aunt Marge floating away in the distance as Harry walks down the street

the interaction between Sirius and Lupin, and Snape coming in later. brilliant fucking acting. also when Sirius was holding back Lupin as he changed to a Warewolf, the dialogue was well played.

Hermione & Harry: Hes saved, we did it!
Dumbledor: Did what? gnight children
see the movie

i of course enjoy the movies, but i hate changing how a character looks. i pictured lupin and black very differently then the movie portrayed them. and from now on, i'll never think of them my way again.

    That movie was great.
I like the new director (Cuaron) better than the old (Columbus).
Unfortunately, there are items from the book that were left our of the movie (explaination of who Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs were, for example) that needed to be there. Meanwhile, the Knight bus, while cute and funny (for the kids) was left in although it had no bearing on the story.

The 10 minutes the bus took up could have been put to better use, since it is a complex story.

But, that's just my humble opinion. I still loved the movie and can't wait to own it.

And, in other good news, my son now intends to marry Emma Watson (a move I wholeheartedly support). So, Erich you are SOL. You can come to the wedding.

Did anyone else think that the scene when Harry was on the Hipogrif looked a little like Leo Decaprio in his King of The World line from Titanic.

    That was INCREDIBLY Cheesy.....

But you have to admit, Buckbeak was kick ass. I want one.

Movie rocked, but I agree with Kenny, they left out too much that left some people confused.

I think it couldve been slightly shorter, and made way for a little more of that well needed explanatory background you mentioned, but I dont see it needing to be cut out. I think its needed to tell the story properly, since its transport for stranded wich/wizards, and it makes an appearance in book 5.

I fully agree. I said the King of the World line while he was doing that, rather loudly, and got some weird looks, but now I know I wasn't crazy. []

yeah that explanation was needed. also, i thought that the exchanges between lupin, snape, peter, sirius, and harry in the shrieking shack should have stuck to the book conversation - that would have made the story clearer. it would have added a few extra minutes to the movie, but things would have been clearer. i was looking forward to the harry and snape arguement there, that was longer in the book before harry puts snape in his place.

overall, a great movie, best of the 3. i agree with erich - gary oldman put of a great performance as sirius.

i think they should have left out that whole introduction where Harry is at home and spent that time focusing on relationships that weren't explored in the movie...really messed it up i think.

ive never read any of the books and i followed along just fine.
my gf told me about the quartet and the map. to be honest, i never thought twice about it. although i was slightly confused when the 4 of them were in the room and harry knocked out Snape. but then it all came together.

    great movie

I liked the movie. But i personally did not like the direction it took, dark colors and quirky direction, felt like an entirely different experience compared to the first two...which i like a hell of a lot more than this latest installment. Also felt that the cast was simplified, meaning the cast as a whole was barely used and the story focused on the main three characters...i haven't read the books yet, so i don't know how different the film is from the book.

Yep, i personally didn't like the change, although the cgi looked more credible with the darker hues.
