To be fair, there’s a provision in the bill that is essentially an M4A for all recently laid off people - covering COBRA at 100% is single payer for these folks. That, plus a pseudo trial run of UBI via the child tax credit, plus direct payments and tax free UI; along with state and local funding, etc etc etc. It’s a massive liberal/demand-side bill. Generationally liberal.

Not too shabby for a bill passed through Congress on day 50 and signed into law on day 51; without a single vote in support from the minority party, all with the narrowest margins to get it done.

Well, the Democratic House pushed the bills, and it’s $1800 across 10 months, vs $1400 passed without a single R vote in less than 2 months. Plus 25M adult dependents covered, potentially $1,200 in tax rebate from UI, and about that much in additional child tax credit.

The American Rescue Plan likely comes out on top in $/individual for those who need it the most.

Arguments about a net amount across a year, solely on EIP, over this bill - are not made in good faith.
