12.03.96, 12.08.96 or 12.27.96 were the full band shows that had Let You Down.

May not have a full multi-track tape of those shows.

You're not factoring in rarity. Crowd was probably pissed. Most of those songs were played the night before. A one song encore?! At SPAC?! Last three songs from the main set were the exact same as the night before. PHONED IN.

And you'll never guess the last two songs and encore of the next night. YUP - no changes! Stale tour.

It is a great set. No one is disputing that.

Isn't it fair to say releases now should have something unique? We're at a point where releases should have special moments that make that show different.

That's all I'm saying. Of course the set is great.

Rare and unique moments, shows without wide spread taped performances, and good quality shows should be released.

I'd rather have a quality show without rarities than a mediocre show with Let You Down on it.

Save that for the Warehouse discs.

Lol how is that not fair? We have a zillion releases.

Many from 1996 and they're all very similar.

Sure, nothing stands out like a guest spot from Bela or a rarity like Deed is Done, but it's a great looking set without a single bad song. I'm sure I'll pop this in and be totally content. A perfect set list from a great year, so I'm not sure what isn't to like. Deed is Done really doesn't go anywhere, so the one we have from LT 18 should suffice. It's not like it changed a whole lot from performance to performance.

People have been wanting more releases from 96 and 97 and now we have one but it's nothing to get excited about? I may not rush to pre-order, but what more do people want? We get 4 live releases a year from different eras of the band. That's pretty cool, I think. The band didn't have as much material in 96 as they do now, so if they release multiple shows from that year they're going to have similar sets. Not really all that surprising.

it's all about the mix for me. setlist is more than fine so I'm happy as of now--if they nail the mix it will go into regular rotation.

Because there are still fantastic (and in some cases better) unreleased shows with nothing statistically extraordinary.

I'm sure it's a good show, I just don't see anything to be too excited about in context of what we've gotten over the years. We have a million versions of all these songs and it's not much different than the other '96 shows we've got. I understand the release given the Crash anniversary but not one I'm running to listen to

Instead of saving it for the WH disc, why not have a bonus/3rd disc that contains a few rare/special moments?

    I agreed with your disagreement

So every release has to have something unique or special about it now? What about a solid show with great performances from an era people have been wanting more of? Again, we get 4 releases a year, so can't one or two just be a good show without any bells and whistles? Last year we got a show from 95 with a bonus disc that included a song no one had ever heard, a 99 show with a great bonus disc including a rarity - Last Stop, then a mm 09 show that surprisingly almost everyone liked without any bonuses, and then a stellar Alpine release with a bonus disc and DVD. This year we've received a show from 1992 (which that right there is unique), and now a show from an era people have been calling for more of every year, AND the set list is flawless. There are still two more releases coming this year that could include something "unique", and the standard has been set that we'll most likely get a DVD with the last one. I guess I don't understand what's not to like about this...

Not trying to be argumentative, but if that's the case then why release anything at this point? We have a million versions of a lot of songs in the catalog and have access to so many tapes over the years. I see people on here wishing they would release every show, but then would that be too much? I get that this show doesn't stick out with Deed is Done, Let You Down, Bela Fleck and any other rare thing you can think of from that era, but again, what's wrong with just a solid show from a great year? A year, that I continue to point out, people have been wanting more of over the years.

Isn't it fair to say releases now should have something unique? We're at a point where releases should have special moments that make that show different.

That's all I'm saying. Of course the set is great.
I'd agree. Give us something unique at least.
