Lillywhite Sessions

I really miss listening to my old copy of the Lillywhite Sessions. Does anyone have a Dropbox file they’d be willing to share? The Grey Street discussions have really been taking me back!

Imo, it was. Not just what could have been. I developed the following mentality around 2005 with Stand Up:

Fuck it. If they make poor decisions regarding song selection on studio albums, I'm just going to make my own from the best of the new songs. So I have a killer album from 02-07 made up of the cleanest versions of those tour songs. And another one with the "release" of the Batson sessions. I had enough of trusting Dave to put his best shit on albums.

If Princip hadn't been in Sarajevo, the world would likely be much different. If LWS never leaked, how would DMB be different?

This is why I don't understand when people say "the big 3."

    It's the big 4.

And honestly, if they made better song selection choice on Stand Up (having the '04 songs plus the Batson Sessions as the well to choose from), it could easily have been the big 5.

Captain is especially amazing. I wish we had live versions played like that. Boyd is incredible.

Some of the 2013 Captain performances were very Lillywhite-esq. Jeff, in particular, was playing Roi’s riffs direct from tLS

BEF might be my favorite on tLWS, second half of it is nuts and has never been matched live

Yep... the 04/06 songs could have easily been a fantastic album... Instead we got Stand Up.. Which to be honest are songs I enjoy live now.. But they should have stayed that way... while the other songs ended up on a studio release.. Makes no sense..

What songs from the 2006 tour plus Batson sessions could have combined with the 2004 songs to make an album as good as UTTAD through tLWS/BS with YNK?

    Seems impossible.

I might be one of the few people who still keep music on their phone but The Lillywhite Sessions is on my DMB Studio Tour playlist and I frequently listen to it. I gave that whole album, cover art and all, as gifts back when it leaked in 2000/2001. Great album.

A finished Steve Lillywhite production of tLWS could very well have passed BTCS for me. The fact these leaks of nowhere near complete tunes( from a production, mixing, and mastering perspective) are so good - is nothing short of amazing. Hell, some songs aren't even finished like Raven.

And they were doing it without any "guest" extras like Tim.

I went to dig it out of my collection but the picture is the actual Lillywhite Sessions CD i made for myself. It even has a lyric book in there. I dont know who made that 20 years ago, but thank you. Although, I must have used all my parents black ink to print that baby.

2001 was the peak of my DMB fandom/hysteria. The internet had just came out and after hearing BTCS in high school I was raring for a new album. The excitement was an all-time high. I'm sure the band hates the fact that it got leaked but it's a moment in the band's history for me that is a special time.

Do you all remember when the band was posting clips of them in the studio recording The Littlywhite Sessions on dmband.com? I remember a small clip of Digging a Ditch. I know they had more but I dont remember the others. Then one day it was gone and Everyday was announced.

Do you remember that the old site had DMB members as silhouettes at the top, and you could click on each member individually? Each member was the size of a normal "graphic" person and then Carter was just a huge blob of drums.

I do. Weren’t they tentatively calling the album Three Days Down? Or am I making that up?
