Re: Formula 1 Discussion
As time goes on I am starting to dislike Max Verstappen more and more. I am not totally in the dislike column yet, but it is approaching that zone. It sucks because I would like a new champion, but he just says things that rub me the wrong way.
This week he refused to be interviewed by Netflix moving forward because he felt they portrayed him as the villain with creating fake rivalries and that the show was only to boost American viewership. I totally understand the first part, but I also feel a simple conversation with Netflix could have addressed that issue. To the second part, it comes off as a little anti-American at worst but is definitely selfish at best. F1 is becoming one of the most popular sports in the world largely due to American viewers and drive to survive. F1 growing only helps Max but he seems a little short sided and selfish in his way of thinking. I totally understand him not liking how he is portrayed, but “quitting” the show is dumb. I also find that he comes off as very cocky and ungrateful in most of his interviews.
To clarify, I have really liked Max since he came into F1, but my views towards him are slowly changing. Maybe if he wins the title he will be more humble and relaxed?
