I used to ski a bit when I was younger and really want to get back into it. I don't really know anyone who's big on winter sports though and I don't know how to go about going again. I'd probably try to take some lessons though.

Snowboarder here. I'll be going out to Breckenridge in a few weeks. Has anyone skied or ridden out there before? If so, how are the Peak 7 and 8 bowls? Also, do you know if the Peak 9 and 10 summits are hikeable?

    Skier here.

Haven't been in a few years unfortunately. Wasn't lucky with snowfall the last few times I went either. My last 3 trips had such poor snowfall and such a thin base that all blacks and double blacks were closed. I'm entertained for about an hour skiing blues. Yawn.

Trying to snowboard 30 days this year...I did 45 last year, but now I have a job ughhhh!

Hopefully going to mammoth, whistler, all over the east coast and *praying* for chile next summer.

never been out there. will be in denver dec 6-13th and hope to hit up vail and/or breck. i checked their snow reports yesterday, they have less than 10% of their mountain open. that will obviously improve in the next few weeks, but whether or not bowls will be skiable/ridable is the question. i hope so, i want to check em out

    Skier and Snowboarder present.

I've skied New England, Utah, Tahoe, and even Tucson, AZ.

Tahoe is my home. We normally get season passes for Northstar at Tahoe, but I'm getting married this year, and I really can't afford it... the pass or giving up the time. I love Tahoe, but I wish we had more powder. When I went to Utah, we skied Alta and Solitude. There was NO powder. I was totally bummed. Oh well.

I can't wait for the season to start. I snowboard now, and I have a 06 Santa Cruz board with the 2006 Team Ride bindings, and Vans (Boa) boots. I love my gear.

^^Northstar was the first place I ever saw snow, IMO the best one in Tahoe. My parents honeymooned in Tahoe (They're really into skiing). Last year I went to heavenly and was not too impressed.

For skiers, Taos NM is one of the greatest places I've been, but they don't allow snowboarders. I also enjoyed Whistler and Snowbird in Utah.

Anyone been to the slopes in WA? I'm considering heading up there this season to meet some ppl.

The last time I went skiing I broke my ankle and haven't been back since. That was when I was 14. I want to give it another go this year. I also want to check out cross country skiing. I have never done it but I hear it's a pretty good outdoor winter workout.

I'm working on a Chile trip next August, too. If I'm going that far I'd like to the whole South America thing, but we're probably going to be able to swing 5 days of skiing. Better than nothing, though.

ouch that sucks. but seeing it under water in the summer must have been kind of funny, in a weird fucked up way

i did a big snowmobiling trip to maine last year, and am considering doing it again this year. i've got the itch real bad for it

Well we rode over to where we thought it was.....but the lake where we go has this big rule that 2 jet skis can't be within so many feet of each other - so I pointed down to where i thought i saw it - then took of so he could look - he said he thought it saw it too - where i pointed - but i dont think he saw what i was talking about. Sux.- there was no saving it.

I spent a day at Vail last year, it was great. There was a white out in the bowls, so I didn't get to enjoy them like I wanted. I ended up spending most of the day in the Blue Sky Basin. I loved Steep & Deep, Lover's Leap, and Iron Mask runs just off the Skyline Express Lift. They're near the top of the lift, off to your left side. I highly recommend hitting these. Plenty of powder, trees, and small cliffs to keep you busy for awhile.
