one of the actors' names is finn wolfhard and every time i see it pop up on the screen i can't help but think of that one mystery science theater episode where they keep giving the main character names like rip steakface and brick hardmeat.

Just binge watched this with my family over the weekend – first time we've ever done anything like like but couldn't help ourselves because the show was fantastic.

Watched over the past week or two and finished last night. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan typically, but I enjoyed it. Definitely some powerful moments. The first time her phone was ringing and the lights were going crazy and then it electrocuted her in the face. That whole thing gave me big chills. And then the scene where they were pulling the body from the quarry and the kids came upon it, the music in that scene was so great and the emotions so high. Even though you were pretty sure it wasn't Will, a lot going on there.

I don't know that I fully understand the connection between the science experiments, what they were doing with 11, and the whole "upside down" world.

Eleven's so cute, was really rooting for her and Mike. I'm hoping she's still alive.

yeah el will be back. she kind of carries the series. also, the upside down is a microcosm of the modern day geopolitical climate, the way i see it.

been meaning to for last couple months now, I finally today did my full 2nd rewatch of the whole series. I was still blubbering like a baby at the end, even knowing what it was already. These guys just really knew how to use music and sound design in general so well with this thing.

But they're already into production on season 2, the Duffers said there were some other things they had initially planned on including in the first season, I guess more deeper subplots, but got the sense after awhile they could get more episodes, so decided to hold off and build more s2 out of that. And despite that so much of the season will be taking place around and on Halloween... ohh YEA.

It's funny, the EW cover that leaked online of the gang, the kid who plays Will still looks like he's barely about 10 years old, meanwhile the black kid Lucas, he already looks about 23

also reassuring to see the Duffers are already taking a Breaking Bad-esque approach to their baby here. They already have some significant ideas for season 3 but are very mindful they want to do absolutely no more than 5 seasons, max.

and they changed some of the individual episode names that were released online a couple months ago for the whole 2nd season run. if I recall right, they actually purposely made some of those bogus because they see how heavily the audience studies these even small details and works out too much shit in advanced. They even referenced Westworld for how many of the reveals that viewers figured out beforehand.

Not sure, but I have a feeling they aren't concerned with that cost at this point. I don't know what profits season 1 turned, but I can imagine season 2 is going to be a cash cow for Netflix

their use of Thriller here kinda reminded me of the one TV spot for what was like the 4th to last episode of Lost in its final season, when they cut together scenes and laid some Gene Wilder dialog over it from Willy Wonka, the little rhyme as the boat's going down the river.

I just realized I had never posted in this thread. Loved the new trailer. ST is my favorite thing I've ever watched on Netflix. My wife and I have a young son and are tired at the end of the day and have to get up early, but were were staying up to 3 a.m. watching it because we loved it so much.

Anytime a conversation at work or with friends turns to Netflix shows, I tell people to watch ST if they haven't.

Actually been meaning to top this with what I heard earlier today. They've also produced a roundtable talk show for after the episodes (and NOT hosted by Chris Hardwicke! ) But it'll obviously have a different dynamic. Of course not live since the episodes aren't done weekly. If I remember right, they made 7 of them (hosted by Jim Rash), I doubt each one will be as long as a typical episode length, but when you're done binging all of s2 (which they recommend because different spoilers will be all throughout the extra series), there will then be these extra 7 shows of Rash talking to cast and crew about BTS stuff and theories, etc.
