2018 Tour Rumors

I posted this earlier but for those of you that want to do MSG for cheap, or at least not NYC prices, you can stay at a hotel on Long Island and take the Long Island Railroad directly into Penn Station (MSG is right above it) for about $20 round trip. It’s about a 30-40 min train ride depending on what station you leave from. Hotels are normal prices here.

You can pretty much get the whole city experience and just sleep on Long Island. The trains run throughout the night.

As others have mentioned, this is doable from NJ as well.

Thanks for the local knowledge. What's the best area to look for hotels that are within walking distance of a train station? Hotels that aren't too far out from Manhattan, but are still reasonably priced?

Can someone give me the 411 on Mohegan sun tickets and difficulty of getting floors?

Been to Coldplay there and it was a pretty tough ticket, then a massive snowstorm came and people were handing out floor tickets because no one could make it

One of the great things about Long Island is that there are train stations every where. With that said, my suggestion is finding a hotel relatively close to the Hicksville train station (Hicksville also being the name of the town). It is a major hub and thus has the most trains running into and out of it. Also a relatively safe area and provides a train that goes straight into penn station (there are stops along the way but you do not have to transfer). Uber is also all over the place out here so you do not have to worry about getting back to the hotel after the show. There is also a 24 hr cab stand at this train station.

Here is a map of the stations: http://onthego.mta.info/maps/lirr/map.html

Obviously, the further to the left (west) on the map you go, the closer you will be to NYC and the shorter the train ride.

If you want more specific information such as hotel recommendations, etc., feel free to pm me.

Edit: I just saw you said walking distance. That I'm not too sure about. But there are hotels within 5-10 min drive of a lot of stations and as I said above Uber is all over out here. And many train stations have cab stands.

I’m making it an easier list for people to visualize the tour layout. Chads list is incredible but it’s very comprehensive (rumors, different dates and sources, debunked rumors, etc)

Not competing with his list lol

Love DMB at the garden. Never been disappointed and really hope they do two there.

His is pretty great and if someone reading it is having a hard time, they might not be the brightest.

Two lists makes this very confusing.

I saw yours and was totally thrown off because you have Mohegan on the second - which isn’t confirmed.

The other dudes list is perfect and comprehensive so that people can make decisions based on all factors... not just the latest info.

I like your list josh (completely understanding why you made the first time I saw it), but we'll get everything settled on Tuesday.

We're passing on Mexico with the hopes of hitting MSG, DC, and C-ville ('rents live in Westchester, we're in NoVA, and already reserved a room in C-ville). Obviously can't guarantee getting everything, but we'll try.

Lol then you need to backread; Scott all but confirmed it’s on the 2nd and not the 8th anymore.

You need to relax. I didn’t do any of the work; it was all Chad. Again I’m trying to make a simple list for people to read without going through multiple rumors, etc.

This statement reminded me of the Fall 2010 tour.. Buffalo was the first stop of the tour, and Last Stop was supposed to get played as the encore closer.

They switched it up and played Halloween instead. Cool moment, but every other stop on the tour got Last Stop i think lol.

Was lucky enough to catch it at my second show ever, so i wasn't chasing, but man i would have been let down slightly if I was.

Did they extend the NJ Transit hours?? Otherwise, traveler beware.

Fond memories of sleeping at Penn station until 5:30 AM after N1 in 2010 because I missed the last train for the evening, which left at 12:30 AM or something like that

I am from northern NJ and the last trains usually leave between 12:30-1:30 depending on the train line you are taking.

I mean if the show ends at 11/11:30, you just can't go out to the bars after. Otherwise, it will be a very expensive Uber lol

Scott has posted great info on hotels and access from Long Island into the city for the rumored shows at MSG. For those that want to stay in Manhattan, but don't want to break the bank for a midtown hotel, look at hotels further uptown to compare prices. There is an ALoft in Harlem off 124th and Frederick Douglas and the Edge Hotel on 168th between Audubon and Amsterdam. Both hotels are 1-2 blocks from the A/C train which runs direction to 34th Penn Station. That is the stop for MSG. Subway ride is $5.50 roundtrip or a semi-cheap Uber or cab ride back to the hotel after the show.

That looks good for DMB in CVille. Hopefully everyone booked refundable hotels ahead of time if you're interested in attending that show!

Hotels are for squares. I'm just sleeping in a bush outside the arena.

I'm obviously not sure how much substance there is here but I've seen it happen plenty of times when doing my typical research for lodging at or near this venue.

I reallllly wanted this to be 12/08 with all the conveniences of a Saturday but I'm just happy to get another show this year.

Most Airbnb's are fully refundable too in case the hotel prices are looking too steep for anyone.

It's how I did Nashville in 2017 and ended up spending $175 for the whole weekend and had my own house...much less than any hotel there. I think it's worth a try for any of the shows outside of NYC since Airbnb isn't really a thing there

I love AirBNB. I spoke at a conference in Chicago in June and we were there for like 4 days. Hotels were like 200-300 a night (lots of other conferences in town that weekend), so myself, a friend, and a couple friend all split an AirBNB, and we got a whole house (each had our own room and bathroom) and it was around 60 bucks a night with our split.

Did the same for my two week Colorado trip coming up in June.

Booked a room at the Residence Inn, about 3 blocks from the venue the other day. It was on the higher side but but at $181 in walking distance, I'm cool with that.

    Adding NYC hotel advice:

-Don’t stay across the street at the Pennsylvania. It’s a dump. Colleague had a rat in her room.

-Pod on 51st is the best cheap place in Manhattan. Even the “shared bathroom” option is surprisingly good. 2 other locations but haven’t stayed there.

-Booking.com has the GEM Chelsea for cheap right now if you want an option within a quick walk of the venue.
