Recommend a Song

This may have been done before...

Recommend 1 song (or two if it's necessary or if the highlight comes from a segue, etc.) from a show. Ideally the song, at least in your mind, is unique or is an all star performance. Preferably, the song(s) should come from shows that do not have official releases. The goal being to share a highlight that most do not know about or have not taken the time to download and listen to. Seeing as how the ants app now streams shows, I'm thinking we may be able to link to a quick download of the song for ease of access...

I'll start. Going all the way back to the 1995 summer tour...the very last show of the tour is at Jones Beach. The band opens the encore with a very unique Typical Situation that features Dionne Farris on vocals (the only time she has guested with the band). Here's the direct download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uzm...ew?usp=sharing

    Thriller Jam > Watchtower w Robert Randolph - Deer Creek N2 6/13/05

"The introduction to All Along The Watchtower tonight came out of nowhere,
augmented by a stellar lighting show. With Robert Randolph sitting
in, the band kicked into a completely improvised funk groove mixed
with overtones of Thriller, trading licks and laughs." ---- from DMBand.com Road Crew

    Re: Recommend a Song

    Cool thread idea.

I really think download/streaming links should be shared with each post.

Also, the next person posting should have to leave a comment on the previous postís song before posting their song. Just my $0.02.

Going way back here, but Cry Freedom 9/1/1991. Love Peter on it, and Roi shines.

    Crush - Hershey 6.23.06

best version i've ever heard. there is a looseness to it where it just flows so well. the everyday from the same show is also the best i've heard as it has a great #36 interpolation. don't have links as i dont have the files on this computer. that whole show is worth a listen, but especially that crush.

    6/27/04 Good Good Time.

Everyone talks about the 7/10/04 GGT from Hershey. I was at both shows and really like the lyrics on 6/27/04. Give it a listen. Roi shines on his solo.

I remember by brother gave me this show years ago (like 2007 or something) and I listened to this and thought it was so awesome. Prior to Tim joining the band, I really appreciated an electric guitar solo in dmb when it wasn’t as common.

    Two Step - Hershey 6.27.08

Don't have a link, don't even have a copy anymore. It's probably my favorite song performance I've ever seen by the band.

Just found it on YouTube (unsure of quality, can't listen right now): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDsiL7rvNV8

Absolutely. Love what Roi and Rashawn were doing too. Also, just the whole performance where they didn't waste a note -- every one mattered, including the way Tim played that solo. Just super tight with great musical tension and release.

Rain Intro (only played a handful of times in 1996): https://soundcloud.com/copperpot5/ra...ly-yLBpNUH3mqo

Here is another Rain intro, this time from Jones Beach (the only performance containing substantial lyrics): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmTSJp-7CoA

Unknown Jam from Utah 2004: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc8w...l2xyzL3rlkztGY

The Utah jam is probably my favorite jam the band has. It's very dark.

Credit to Copperpot for upping all of these.
