They should be trying to mix up the venues more...they’ve already done WPB.

Best version of If I Had it All ever

Can't wait to watch everyone fuck around for a few minutes while Dave "changes shirts"

I could care less about the venue. I'm more interested in the set and honestly seeing the body language of the band during this show. I know they were hitting a bad point around this period and I'd love to see if/how they hide it. Also I love A Dream So Real, and really hope it ends up on the new album.

2007 DMB is much different than 2019 DMB

Also, did you really expect to get 3 weeks in a row of non-2018/2019 DMB. I didn't, and I'll take this show as a win for sure.

Yep. I don't mind the newest iteration of the band at all, but I have like a hundred shows from them at this point. Getting a show or two from different eras is nice. I'd love to see a late 90's one at some point, but I don't know how possible that is. If they do end up doing another 18/19 show, I hope its N2 C'ville. That Ants with Preservation Hall and the Two Step>Halloween encore were some of my top DMB moments.

Not sure why venue matters, when all you see is the stage.

Yeah this will be another fun video. Keep the LTs coming.

You know what recent LT was also accompanied by video on YouTube? Dave and Tim at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on August 25, 1994 (LT 48)

This would be one of the coolest Drive In options in my opinion. Please do it DMB!

Surprised to see another non-2019 show!..maybe they finally took the hint that the fans were getting a little tired of that lineup? I think this series would have been much better received if they had started with 3 non-2019 shows in a row.

At any rate, I'm looking forward to this one. You know it's a weird show when If I Had It All is a highlight, and not in a bad way!

Phish going unreleased 1994 and a show that is significant and famous amongst fans and DMB still lobbing softballs. Shocker.

So if they do a '18/'19 show it's bad and if they do a show that isn't '18/'19 it's bad?

Re: Dave Matthews Band "Drive-In" - Every Wednesday At 8!

Metallica has also done a fantastic job with their weekly streaming series. Far more effort put forth within their crew. They've featured a show from '83, '89, '91, '94, '97, '99, 2006, '07, '08, '09, 2012, '13, '14, '15, and only 4 from the WorldWired tour.

But, yay?!?!? A show with Roi and Boyd.... along with the lovely sounds of Rashawn that seemingly everyone on here complains about. Oh, and the (Butch-era) sound that by 2007 had gotten increasingly more stale, or at least in comparison to 2000-2004.

    Sorry for the soapbox.

This is what I'm confused about. They've done a great job with these shows and I'm really happy we are getting more shows with Boyd in them, and a few with Leroi now as well. Many different eras have been represented, and yet this thread is rife with people being sad about a specific venue or a year they don't like.

They are free shows, and all have been decent to great, with my money on the Atlanta show or this upcoming one taking the cake. I'm glad we have a drive-in with some AFTW in it, and I'm really excited about A Dream So Real next week cause I absolutely adore that song.

If they want to mix it up I'd love to see a D&T get thrown in as well beyond that re-airing of Radio City, but honestly I'm pretty happy with the shows.

Dave Matthews Band "Drive-In" - Every Wednesday At 8!

Being able to see a show that is released is cool and has been cool. I’m more so talking about the fact that it’s a missed opportunity by not webcasting an unreleased show. And they haven’t done anything pre-2003, so that’s a shame

They did an '06 Drive In that had very few special songs, plenty of songs that have always been regularly played, and a pile of the crappiest DMB songs in the catalog with a bad encore and it was very exciting for many. This show has as many special / unique songs, the common songs, and hardly any bad songs but people hate the pick. Most people were complaining about the number of '19 shows and wanted more older shows which they will now have done three of in a row.

Too many '19 shows - lazy
Three straight older shows - lazy

I mean I agree it's lazy when they were going to pick Listener Supported

Just imagine a brand new video transfer of Live in Chicago 1998 included as part of the Drive-In series, that'd be stepping up and showing some effort.

Or one of the full Gorge 2002 shows.

I think people are calling the decision to only use old shows already released as part of the Live Trax series lazy. And it kinda is.

It's too bad we had such high expectations due to you saying shit like the following:

You know that is not the reason anyone would complain. It’s that they’re already released and they haven’t dipped past 2003.

I actually am looking forward to seeing some of this show, but I still am disappointed in how they’ve gone about this series.

I've seen multiple people say they want LT8 to be a Drive In and lots of people were excited about the 2003 and 2006 shows. I get it if people don't want previously released shows to be Drive In shows and are consistent like yourself, hasn't quite seemed that way.

I personally don't really care one way or another what the shows are, it's free DMB and I pretty much stopped getting Live Trax years ago (there's little reason to anymore with how amazing Copperpot is) so it's all stuff I enjoy to varying degrees.

Let me put this differently then. I am appreciative of the series, am definitely appreciative of the older LTs, and have enjoyed those and am going to enjoy some on Wednesday. There are just other shows I'd love to see and hear properly mixed. I would also enjoy seeing a show pre 2003 at some point.

I'd LOVE LT 8 and I was excited about the 2003 and 2006 shows as well.

Re: Dave Matthews Band "Drive-In" - Every Wednesday At 8!

On a weekly basis, we are getting free full HD videos of concert Live Trax....it's amazing to me there could be so much negativity surrounding all of it. I think it's pretty obvious they dont have much quality 90's footage. At the very least, we now have access to a full 2003 and 2004 video for free on YouTube (I would think forever). If those two shows were announced as DVD releases, people would be throwing their money at DMB to get their hands on it. I appreciate what they've done. A lot of bands arn't doing this.

A missed opportunity for what, though?

If their goal is to raise money for the weekly charities, surely they’d get far more eyeballs if they said, “hey, here’s pro-shot video of the SPAC 2008 Night 2” than “here’s video of a Live Trax that has been available for purchase for the past five years and is now freely available on Spotify.”

The videos are still awesome, but they’re missing the mark if their goal is to maximize exposure.

If their concern is not being able to sell those shows at a later date they could easily make them only available live and not leave them up on YouTube. Yeah, someone would probably rip them and share on here or DreamingTree but that’s still only reaching a fraction of the fanbase. And, if and when they decide they want to sell the show(s), they could make it like other LTs with t-shirts, posters, etc. that would entice some people to purchase even if they had gotten a free rip.

Your example is already up on YouTube as are other suggestions that have come up, I don't think many people outside of hardcore DMB fans are going to watch these Drive In shows regardless of what is played. SPAC N2 '08 doesn't mean anything to someone who isn't a big fan already, and likely already watching the Drive In shows.

To webcast a show that has not previously been released and give a nod to hardcore fans by using a show that is highly touted or requested, then you can sell the mixed/mastered audio as a digital download and donate some or all of those profits as well...etc.

Anything with Roi/Boyd is a win for me.

    I’m glad they’ve slowed down the 18/19.
