It's such a silly argument you are making, and not relevant to the titletown discussion. It's like saying the Kings championship shouldn't count because it only represents the hockey fans of L.A. who are a lot different than the NBA fans. A title in one of the 4 major pro sports / 2 major college sports is a championship, and the cities these teams play in should rightfully celebrate when a championship is one.
I guess when UNC wins their next basketball championship, it'll be silly for the Chapel Hill fans to take pride in the championship, and thinking that UNC represents their city.
