Re: Babies in the Pit?

I ran in to a guy holding a baby at a show years ago. I was pretty drunk and moving pretty swiftly to get a beer before the stand closed and the guy came out of nowhere with his baby in arms. Good thing no damage was done and the kid was ok but the guy said something along the lines of "damn, watch out dude, there's kids around" to which I replied "thank god I haven't gotten my beer yet"

Guy was an turd and should not have had his baby there.

Scumbags. Venue management/security should have done something about that.

Our son will be 1 day shy of 3 months old when he attends his first DMB show Gorge N1. We're going to sit at the top of the lawn off to the side and keep his ear phones on the whole time. He'll probably sleep through the whole thing, and my mom will be with us to take him back to Wildhorse if he is having no part of the concert. I wouldn't take him down to the pit though!

    Re: Babies in the Pit?

As a parent of a pretty young child, I'm still struggling to figure out how they thought this was going to work out. Logistically speaking, I mean. 6 month olds come with quite a bit of extra crap. Not to mention, they crap. Also, way past bedtime. Like WAAAAAAY past. And like, they're on the rail. Not just the pit; but the sweaty, sticky, hot, uncomfortable rail. I'm honestly very surprised they got that kid through that event without issue. I know that when my kid was 6 months old, this isn't even sonsthing that I would've considered. She's a year and a half now and I wouldn't even consider bringing her to a show until at least the summer '18 tour, and even then it would only be lawn, way up at the top with lots of space, fully prepared to leave early if (when) she wants to. And even that might be too young.

I'm just not comprehending how two adults thought about this and decided it's a good idea. And I'm surprised there were no issues. Poor kid, that must've been terrifying.

Yeah, agreed, it's pretty disappointing honestly. I'm glad Fonz tweeted what he did, but yeah I gotta say I'm kinda disappointed Carter rewarded that. Hopefully it doesn't lead to more babies on the rail.

Why even bring a 3 month old? Isn't that incredibly selfish? Either get a baby sitter or sit out the Gorge this year.

Obviously, bringing a baby into the pit is the ultimate douchebaggery.....but I feel like a concert in general for a baby under 1 is ridiculous.

We have a babysitter, my mom, and all 4 of us are going N1, then she's taking him back to Seattle. Thanks for the advice though!

These idiot parents probably put that baby through all that just so they could get a stupid symbol from Carter. You know, these parents are true idiots.

Me and my two best friends went to the gorge for the first time in 2005, great shows, great time. But that's not the point. Before N3, we were hanging out in the campground and this chick (pregnant chick) comes up to us and asks if she can have some ice chips, 'cause she doesn't have any, and she's 40 weeks pregnant and could deliver at any time. My friends and I, being all of 24 at the time, gave her a solo cup with some ice and sent her on her way, but not before asking her "uh....you're 9.9 months pregnant and going to a dave show?" and she replied "...yeah...it's fine, I have my mid wife with me..." We were astonished. Fast forward 11 years and 4 of our own kids later, and we can't believe how irresponsible that was.

the bar I worked at was once referred to as a day care because of how many kids were there on a daily basis. At one time there was a basketball hoop set up in the parking lot, the office had computer games, and the stage where the band plays was set up with toys and what not. The owners kids were always there and the regulars would bring their kids up and they'd all play.

There were still remnants of it when I was working there and I had no problem with it. We would serve the kids water, soda or shirley temples and the parents would have a beer and possibly dinner and take off. I personally thought it was neat.

Ok well that is a little different then.

I'm thinking of like a rowdy college bar or something. Fights all the time. Stuff like that.
