usually the critics or reviewers aren't going to be positive about a film they didn't like watching, and vice versa. so it's sort of hard to separate the two
I don't think anyone could reasonably defend Suicide Squad. There are definitely people out there who liked it but probably recognize that it's not a good movie. Much in the way I would view those cheesy sort of mid-to-late 90's action flicks; more of a guilty pleasure type thing.

I don't really feel like doing a deep dive on BvS for the upteenth time but I think there are people (possibly like MOWJO- but don't want to put words in his mouth) that didn't like the direction the film went but still recognize that it's an amazingly-made movie; from the costume design to the cinematography to the sets, etc. Stuff that makes a movie come to life. There are like a thousand things that go into making a movie, I think reasonable people try to recognize what they like about the movie and what they don't like and come to a conclusion based on that, rather than like one or two plot moments in the film ("Martha" comes to mind).

The only Marvel movie where I felt any sort of tone fatigue was Dr. Strange. All the others have felt pretty fresh to me, but I definitely felt it in that one. I think it had partially to do with my expectation for it, I wasn't familiar with the character compared to some of the others and the previews looked pretty intense, and branching into the mystical arts I just expected them to do something a little different/heavier with it.

No I don't think so......when trolls gonna troll it is like an India click farm of negativity. Like when Battlefront 2 came out and because people were rattled about loot boxes it has like a 1.2 Metacritic score...again I will take a Cinemascore that is polled at theaters (Even though it might be fake news since I have seen a lot of movies and never seen a Cinemascore poll person).

Meh, fair enough. It's tough to know who to believe or what review site to trust anyways for the things we've just discussed. I've always said that I judge everything with as blank a slate as I can and try to remain objective in how I try to analyze these movies.

I don't think there's usually as strong of a feeling both ways. there were definitely way more people putting 1s for ghostbusters months before its release than there were people putting 10s for whatever reason

The only people I tend to actually read are IGN and Scott Mendelson at Forbes....even though I think he is kind of a troll....He does great box office analysis though.

Exactly. Plus its not like they dont take chances. I mean ten years ago if you told me movies like antman and dr strange would be as successful as they are i’d have laughed. And that isnt even taking into account gotg, which came outta nowhere.

I think by taking chances he means taking chances on a different tone, not just on applying the same tone to lesser-known characters.

To me, it felt a little stale in Dr. Strange. I was expecting something different.

I loved Spider-Man Homecoming and Thor 3 after it, though, so it's not as if the tone itself has worn on me.

I'm pretty sure the "big things turning small" and "small things turning big" gimmick will never grow old with me even if they made like 10 of these movies. Loved the giant Pez dispenser.

Looks better than the first and I like the individuality of the first one. It's different from the other MCU movies. Not top tier MCU but it's still really enjoyable.

This one looks like it'll be a really great flick though.

I agree. Water truck/gas truck gag in Civil War is really hilarious.

Still dumb that Sony felt they needed to make that.

Wonder how Ant-Man and the Wasp will work coming after Infinity War....seems like it will be a smaller story again but not sure how that works in the timeline.

That's one of the most anti-climatic and boring trailers from a Marvel movie today. Even the F4 trailer was better than that.

I remain very skeptical about a non-Spidey Venom movie, just on principle, and based on Sony's recent track record. Can't say that trailer showed enough to push that opinion one way or another.

So is Sony basically going to try as hard as they can to imply this is part of the MCU without ever legally stating it? Like, is Tom Hardy going to run into Tom Holland on the street, and then in the credits, Tom Holland will be listed as "Kid on Street"? They will probably work that cameo into the trailer too.

The books that Venom movie is based on are very solid. I'm pretty excited about the film.

If you haven’t yet, check out Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes. It may get your more amped for the film.

I mean, "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" was part of the source material for Amazing Spider-Man 2, so I don't know that Sony using good source material for their movies makes me more excited.
