DMB Should Cover Some Grateful Dead

I think it would be awesome! Perhaps One More Saturday Night?

What do you all think?

I like it and it would be fun to get at a show, but I'm no deadhead.

"Friend Of The Devil" wasn't terrible, but it was obviously not in their comfort zone yet.

The bigger ones would fit the band right now, "Ripple," "Franklin's Tower"

I feel like "Hell In A Bucket" would sit perfectly with the band right now.

Franklin's Tower would be awesome, I just have this image of Dave coasting along on his guitar with some simple easy melodies to groove to!

Dave playing Franklin's would be my musical dream come true.

Would love to hear them give Eyes another try.

Uncle John's, Brokedown Palace, Ripple, Box of Rain could have potential IMO.

Jane's Addiction's version of Ripple can't be topped.

I'd love to see them try Jack Straw, I think it would be a great fit.

I thought they did Friend of the Devil justice, maybe slightly rushed but great otherwise, especially considering Bella's playing.

I agree, I'd rather just see more from BTCS. But if they must play covers, I would love to see them do a few GD covers. And I think you are spot on with thinking they could do a great version Jack Straw.

DMB doesn't do too many harmony type songs so you have to think about that for Uncle Johns, etc...not that they couldn't cover a song a little differently.

Also, I didn't think they butchered FOTD either...but agree that they needed to slow it down a bit.

If you want to hear GD live, there are many super options from Dead and Co to JRAd to DSO etc. DMB should foucus on DMB.

This. With a new album this summer, we don't need any covers to fill slots.

Friend of the Devil though was also played the same night Dead were playing their last show (in chicago was it?) if I remember correctly. also was stuck in the lawn for this show and about half (at most, probably more like 1/3 of people) realized what was going on. Maybe not the best performance (I thought it was fine) but really cool moment. A tip of the hat if you will and a moment like that is once in a lifetime.

amazed Dave and Tim haven't tried Ripple..

full band could slay Half Step, i like that recommendation a lot, especially with Boyd taking the solo on the second half.

Hell in a Bucket, Feels like a Stranger, Throwing Stones, all good ones with how the band is sounding now. a good reference for how horns could sound on throwing stones is whenever branford marsalis guested. really great stuff.

DMB - Deal, Samson & Delilah, Going Down the Road, Music Never Stopped

D&T / solo - Loser, Ship of Fools, Tennessee Jed, Row Jimmy

Oddly enough, I feel like Dave could throw his voice to do Bob or Jerry pretty well if he had to - with his own vocal spin on it of course.

DMB could probably pull off a nice cover of Throwing Stones
