I feel like it strikes a pretty good balance, though. Jim Gordon is very clearly the main character. There are many episodes where Bruce/Alfred aren't even involved. I really thought this show would take off with Bruce finding out info on his dad's old computer but I guess that'll be the slow burn multi-season arc.

He's also grown up really fast since the first episode. He's taller than Jim Gordon now

They say the final shot of the whole series will be Bruce putting on the mask for the first time. That alone will be cool as fuck and make it worth watching this show.

Here's hoping they jump some time somewhere in the 3rd season.

yeah that will be awesome once they get to that scene.

But will that work if they get cancelled? If that happens it will come off rushed because they would have to jump right to it

    Last season rocked.

The actor that plays Bruce is apparently 15 now so they could easily start moving into more Batman stuff. In the comics, Bruce was around 14 or 15 when he started traveling/studying abroad and whatnot, so they can make his storyline more interesting. Even though he didn't become Batman until his early 20's, they can do more building to that

    Re: Gotham (FOX Show)

The past few episodes with Mad Hatter have been really good, and Jim's hallucination sequence last night was very well done.

They went ahead and made Penguin gay. I don't care that they have gay characters at all (the police captain in Flash is gay, so is Mr. Terrific on Arrow), but to change his sexuality just for the sake of doing so seems cheap and forced. I suppose Penguin's sexuality isn't a key component of his character, and they've changed him plenty enough from the comics as it is so the fallback of "he's not gay in the comics" doesn't really matter, but having a love triangle, of which Penguin and Riddler are both a part, seems silly and contrived.

I caught the first episode, but then House of Cards dropped. I will circle back once I finish that.

I bailed on this show after it came back for this most recent stretch. I just...don't care about anything that happens.

It's also pretty fucking dumb that Batman villains are popping up before Batman even exists. One of the main cruxes of the entire Batman lore is that the supervillain types appeared only after Batman took down the mob in Gotham. They touched on this a little in The Dark Knight but there is pretty substantial support for this throughout the comics. It's just stupid to change the cannon that significantly.

That, and the plot has been horrific. If they kept this show a grounded police drama with touches of a young Bruce finding his way, that would have been a golden formula. It's just too absurd to be taken seriously.

I'm catching up on Gotham now, and started the 3rd season a few days ago. I forget how insufferable Jada and her character are... Aside from that though, this season has started out pretty good.

I finished the series the other day. Last season was super rushed. I wish it went the full 22 episodes, could've been really good. I could possibly see Netflix going the Lucifer route with this, and picking it up. Maybe not though, the ending seemed to wrap it up, or at least make it current.
