See, I didn’t see it as a series about the issues of mental health at all. I mean it helped explain why she was probably so batshit crazy, but I didn’t feel like that was the angle.

Part of my problem with the series is that there didn’t really seem to be any sort of angle or direction. It was start to head down a path and then veer off and head down some other path and I would think “oh ok, we are going this way...” then veer off again.

They thought they could get $250,000 from sticking up a bank and yet I'm supposed to believe they are geniuses and the smartest people in the room?

Get out of here. I don't know if her estate had some deal that the doc had to fellate her about how smart she was so they could tell the story but Jesus christ. Graduating 20th from high school and then getting a couple of degrees doesn't make you a genius.

Yes, to all of this. As I said before, either they were idiots and they really did think they were going to rob a bank and get away with it. Or they really are the smartest people in the room and sold a bunch of horseshit to everyone they talked to and wove a Usual Suspects level tale and the real motive was Brian's murder, which, they got away with because of some undescribed law at work here.

I'm finding this dull and uninteresting. Have about 30 minutes left and really hope some things get wrapped up. I really like true crime documentaries (and especially books), but find no interesting characters or twists. Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong is unbearable. Feel like this could've better been covered by an hour long Dateline or similar show.

We have entirely different brains, friend.

For me, this one is tied with The Keepers for most captivating. I think you're either fascinated by Marjorie's insanity or you're not.

I also allow myself to indulge in the creepiness of the whole thing: The men around her dying, the way eyewitnesses always describe her eyes as being almost devil-ish, etc. That in addition to all the twists and turns in the investigation made this one very interesting to me.

A lot of the info is fluff to me. Almost an entire episode focused on a body in the freezer.

That episode is filled with other stuff....and the body in the freezer was pretty important, no?

Episode 2 goes into Bill's history, how weird he and Marjorie's relationship was, etc. Not like it was 45 straight minutes zoomed in on a cooler.

I just didnt find it interesting. To each his own. I haven't finished the series but James Roden seems only indirectly related to the actual pizza bombing plot.

Re: Evil Genius (Netflix true crime doc)

I really liked this documentary and love the genre.

I think Brian Wells was a patsy and innocent.

I don’t think any of them were geniuses though. It was a stupid plan that was never going to work. Why did they think the police would not stop him?

    The prostitute should feel guilty.

I think Rothstein got his revenge on her and this is what it was all about. He was the one that built the bomb and it was set to go off well before Wells could finish what he had to do, thus intentionally sabotaging the plan from the start. He never wanted Marge to get her money and since he was dying didn’t need any himself.

At the time of the robbery he also had her dead boyfriend in his freezer. He always planned on turning her in afterwards which he did.

He probably never meant to get caught for the heist nut taking down Marge I firmly believe was his intention.

So, good show but, not even close to Making a Murderer for me. That still rules.

"it was a plan that was never going to work". "Taking down Marge I firmly believe was his intention". So in other words, it worked. I think the "genius" here is Rothstein, not the woman.

Just finished last night. Definitely interesting.

However, I'd recommend Wild Wild Country over this. Better docu-series from the Duplass brothers on Netflix

I enjoyed both docs, but preferred Evil Genius more than Wild Wild. Making A Murderer is still better than both of them.

    Thought it was excellent.

So much easier that people think for innocent people to confess to crimes.

Right now A&E is showing Casey Anthony's Prents Speak and man, it's crazy. The fact that the two parents somehow were/are able to stay together is astounding, imo.
