If my friend doesn't text me back about bowling, I'm probably going to watch Let The Right One In tonight. In general, I really don't like vampire movies, but I've heard nothing but good things about this one.

I don't know how you feel about watching stuff on your computer, but:

Let the Right One In: http://megavideo.com/?v=LYX6ZM1W

It's a screener DVD rip, so it's fairly good quality.

EDIT: Torrents might be a better idea, though. Megavideo, you can only watch 77 minutes, and then it blocks you out for like an hour. So you basically have to watch the ending of the movie later.

What's there policy on inactivity? The only reason I ask, is I can't use torrents at all at school. I've already had one warning (ironically enough, the one time I was legally downloading something). So if I can get booted for inactivity, I'd wait until I get back to NY in March. But if they don't have any restriction like that:

The Wrestler - Was going to see Frost/Nixon to finish off the Best Picture category, but the show ended up selling out. Well, watching The Wrestler sure as hell made up for my disappointment in not being able to see Frost/Nixon. I just loved it. Rourke was spectacular, Tomei was great as well (and Good God, she's smoking for her age). I'm not sure where it ranks yet on my list for 2008, but it's definitely in the top 5 and it certainly was more worthy of a nomination than The Reader, Slumdog Millionaire or Ben Button. Sentimental without being sappy. Just great. 10/10

I crack a smile every time Casey reviews a mainstream movie that helps validate 2008 as a good year for film

Frost/Nixon and Revolutionary Road, Casey. Those will do you in for sure.

I'm pretty sure inactivity just has to do with logging in. I don't think you have to download anything to stay a member, but you might just have to log in and browse one page to avoid inactivity bans.

Either way, I'll send you an invite. Invites here aren't as rare as say waffles or what, so even if you do get banned, I can hook you up with another.

There are a lot of very good movies from this year. It's just I am not getting the same effect as last year where it seems like every new movie I see, I feel devastated that I have to push another great film out of my top 5 or 10. It was just one after another with great, great cinema last year. Maybe I'm underrating this year just because it looks so weak in comparison, but it just seems like I've seen a bulk of good movies, and then not too much later on, they kind of fade from my memory.

One of the most awkward/best opening scenes ever.

Oh, well look at that. PS Hoffman's ass cheeks have created their own, separate momentum than his hips. Wonderful.

    The Savages (2007) 3/5

Ultimately depressing. If I ever get dementia, kill me.

And there's just something I don't like about Laura Linney. I can't place it. But Philip Seymour Hoffman ruled as per usual.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - Interesting plot, superbly acted, but somehow completely forgettable. 7/10

    The Big Country (1958)

Western with Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, Burl Ives (the narrator from Rudolph), Jean Simmons.

Awesome. Still a great movie after 50 years. Story of how non-violence can sometimes stop a feud. Although a gun doesn't hurt either. Recommended. it's also almost 3 hours long, so book some time to see it.
