Official Goose (the band) Discussion

Figured I would start a separate thread.

Had so much fun at the drive in show last night, these guys are blowing up.

And now Tribus Brewing has a beer collab with them!

I've never heard of them, what type of music is it? What should I start with for listening?

They're a jam band, a litttttle bit like Phish, but I think they're a little more palatable to someone like yourself (and that is in no way an insult or anything).

I would suggest several things from them:

Their Live compilation album video Alive and Well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE1xEHkuRN4

    Peach Fest 2019: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVfDTXbG-po

    11/16/19 Set 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjfBeKfZlRg

An acoustic set they did in quarantine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFuu3kK4gpk&t=1260s

I'd also highly recommend checking out their appearance on the Under the Scales podcast. They chat some and play some acoustic stuff...pretty awesome.

Can't quite dig into any of it today but will be doing so over the weekend. Also I'm good with some jam bands, I like some of the Grateful Dead stuff, also randomly I liked Twiddle in person.

Based on discussions ive seen/had with you id definitely think Goose is more palatable to you, they just are in general. They have a lot of good catchy songs, theres some definite DMB influence in their music you will pick up on as you listen. The lead guitar player (Rick) has said he is a fan and has been since HS.

Discovered Goose from my nugs.net subscription just within the last month or so. I've really enjoyed them.

In other news nugs.net subscription has been such a worthwhile investment for me. Even during this time there are very few bands playing new shows the amount of archived material that's been put up has been great.

What did you think of the setup and overall experience of that type of show? Do you see that as a viable way for bands to tour next year?

This one at least was literally at a concert venue, Legend Valley in ohio if you want to google, so it had a stage and great sound, it worked out really well on all fronts.

But with that said I cant speak to ones at drive-in theaters or parking lots. There are some without PA's were you need to use your radio for sound which would suck.

    So hard to say really.

Is there a comprehensive list of Goose originals anywhere? I know everything on Apple Music, but as I listen on nugs I haven’t taken the time to figure out whether some other oftenplayed tunes are originals or covers I’m not familiar with.

Goose is good. There’s so many smaller “lesser known” bands out there with some serious talent.
Umphrey’s McGee comes to mind. Not many people know who they are.

Re: Official Goose (the band) Discussion

I love these guys. Check out the song Arrow. It has some Seek Up vibes. Peach Fest is a good place to start.

They have a solid cover of Wake Up by Arcade Fire: https://goosetheband.bandcamp.com/track/wake-up
