Looks like Lion King is looking at Summer 2019 release. Full cast appears to be out too. Excited for Seth Rogan and Billy Eichner as Pumbaa and Timon. Beyonce as Nala, however... meh.

John Oliver as Zazu has me very conflicted. I think he could do an excellent job with it but I'm not 100% positive it'll still be as good as the character of Zazu warrants. Kegan-Michael Key as one of the hyenas should be awesome.

And then JEJ reprising Mufasa is something else.

I had a lot of problems with the new BATB. Mainly that I had no emotional investment in the love story and honestly I just thought the movie was far too long and did not warrant a 2 hour runtime.

I just loved how they deepened the story. Belle's background and Beast's background paralleling to the deaths of their mothers was quite beautiful. I am also glad they added depth to the house servants. "Days in the Sun" was such a great song to add to the movie, as was "Evermore."

What I like about these live action movies is that they will got a tad darker than the cartoons, which I like. I'm excited to see how they do that with Lion King and Aladdin.
Evermore is so far out of this world.

but--live action? lion king? they're humans. they aren't lions. is it going to be CGI'ing their faces onto lions? or are they going to be wearing lion costumes and walking round on two legs like the play?

Outside of James Earl Jones that cast sucks ass.

Going to be a horrible film. Only 25 years after the original? Disney has run out of ideas

Can't wait for the live action Shrek movie in 2020 starring Jonah Hill and Amy Schumer

Because a lot of people are genuinely excited for it, will go see it, and the BATB and Jungle Book movies were fantastic and well-received.

Avatar, beauty and the beast, jungle book... you know they featured non-human characters, yeah?

They capture the movements of the actors and then generate characters using those movements. The same way (albeit much better) the Tony hawks pro skater game series used real human features and motions in a computer generated environment.

I hope they don't let Beyonce do much on the soundtrack. Elton John needs to come back and do Circle of Life. Beauty and the Beast added some really good new songs IMO. I'm scared they will have Beyonce do a couple new ones and they will suck. I'd love to be wrong, though.

They need to just add the original Circle of Life back into that opening scene. Do not let Beyoncé ruin that song. Elton John credits would be perfect.

so this is probably a really dumb question, but are the lions going to be animated with voice-over, or is Donald Glover literally in the movie as Simba?

I'm confident Beyonce won't sing Circle of Life. It'll probably be someone not in the movie. The person who played adult Nala in the original did not sing Circle of Life.

Guaranteed Bey does sing at least one or two shitty original songs though :eyeroll

I don’t believe the original Belle sang her parts in BATB either. Emma sang hers in the remake though.

I’m not confident they’ll keep her away. Fuck this could suck.

That is incorrect. They used the dude that voiced Homer to do the Genie in the second movie and then Robin Williams returned for the third. And I know too much about Aladdin.

Maybe she'll sing it for the sound track but not the movie. I hope that's the case if she sings it at all.
