Wow, what a crazy story. Looks like they weren't that far from having to recast the role for Daenerys at one point.

well you know that technically, Emilia Clarke already was a recasting, right? There was an initial version of the pilot episode that D&D wrote and was shot, but it was deemed so awful it almost made the series never come to fruition. They did a page 1 rewrite of the script, and recast a number of actors, the most central of which was Danerys. I forget the name of the actress who played her in that original pilot, but she's never since really done much else of note.

and I guess even getting to see that original pilot would be something of a holy grail in modern television lore, but just for the rareness of it. I'm sure it was as bad as they thought it was although having said that, I don't think they re-shot 100% of it, there are a handful of details/scenes that carried over into the aired new pilot.

Absolutely crazy read, terrifying. And yes they do cover the initial pilot not being good in the article.

yeah I'd love to see a season 7 outtake from Missandei dishing all that out, then cause they're standing so far away, Davos sort of looks at Jon confusingly, and holds his hand to his ear "uhh... beg pardon?"
Missandei rolls her eyes, takes a deep breath, "the First Me-- oh fuck it, just come over here closer!"

They could've taken the entirety of the video and sporadically in little bits replaced it over what were their actual season 7 scenes, and it still would've made more sense.

yep that was a tough one to take

if you read the books, its Red Wedding > Joffrey dies > Oberon dies more or less back to back to back

    it's extremely jarring

Originally was trying to read the books before the show, im about to start book 3. Most of the stuff you just kind of know based off pop culture alone, but the way it happens, shocking brutal, and awesome even knowing what is coming.

Like, i figured the mountain was going to win, but the way it happened. Woof.

which to me I thought was a great example pointing to what was so special about this show (or at least as universally agreed upon back then). cause even as a show-only person, I'm thinking there's no way Oberyn outright wins, but also we'd already been trained so well by then of how harsh the universe was, ironically it made the concept that the Mountain would outright win sort of just as cliche. But him winning also would seem to equate to Tyrion dying, which I just couldn't see the series doing yet.

So to have it that Oberyn does die (& I seriously can't look at that final moment another time, it's just too gross) but they at least like have the fate of the Mountain linger awhile, that was a great outcome.

although of course in GoT world, the monster winds up being more powerful than before

    Anyone else's office doing a pool? I'm jumping in Allison's. $10.

Don't have all the questions yet, but from what I've been told you'll predict the fate of each character (alive, dead or white walker) then answer these questions: Is Khaleesi pregnant? Who kills the Night King? Who ends up on the Iron Throne?

    Pretty fun idea, IMO.

Not sure exactly how many character fates we'll be predicting; certainly not EVERY character.

Want to know not only the exact number of total minutes each character has had over the life of the show, but watch each of those lines move along relative to each other as the series goes forward? found this yesterday.

okay yes I kinda joke, but, that does seem an oddly strong reaction. It's called a hobby, most people have them.
hell there's plenty of people who even seem to post on here a lot despite supposedly having full time jobs and raising young kids.
