Treehouse wise pretty much any of their IPA's they are all stellar. Their Quadruple shots are amazing as well, you really can't miss on anything there. I would probably just scope out a mix case and go with that.

Grabbed a mixed case of Monkish for the long weekend. Should get here today... it's been a minute since I've had some.

Coffee beers don't tend to age as well. That bright cold brew aroma/flavor drops off within the first year. I'd say they're better enjoyed fresh imo

Any stout with adjuncts is going to age poorly at a 5 year level (at least when compared to how it was originally intended to taste). That's not to say undrinkable, but the coffee / chocolate are going to fall off, and that can diminish what you had or just leave you with a drinkable to 'meh' stout.

I usually try not to age anything that long unless it's just barrel and stout. Anything with a decent amount of adjuncts, I try to drink from fresh -> 2 years.

Really, the only things you should be aging > 5 years are lambics.

My tradition is to open a BCBS every black Friday as we decorate the house for Christmas. Usually at least 3 years old. This years will be a 2017, already chilling in the fridge. Hoping I can pick up one coffee variant this year, not going to try very hard. Probably will stop by my closet beer store around when they open and buy one coffee one regular.

Actually did catch this. Just who knows when the fuck they're going to open. Voodoo opens a new location each time I take a piss, but Aslin has been threatening to open for the better part of 13 months now? WTF.

I'm heading to Richmond on Friday to hit the Veil for Dark Daze. Will be the third year in a row for me - very excited.

How long do you "chill" a stout before drinking? I like to refrigerate for about 45 minutes, but I don't want it COLD if that makes sense. Just chilled (more white wine chilled than red wine chilled) so I get the full effect of it warming?

Well regardless...I want me some pappy aged stouts. So while I've been bitching about their cagey teasing re: opening, I'm sure I'll find a way to acquire those haha.

I'll take it out, open it, and begin sipping right away but I won't put it back in the fridge. I fill a small snifter about 3 times for a bigger bottle like BCBS. I was in the basement the other day and thought I'd bring it upstairs while I was thinking about it.

Drinking the coffee right now. Pretty damn solid.

One of the better smelling beers while still in the bottle that I’ve “sniffed” in a while. It just struck me as wow that’s nice. I’m a sucker for a coffee stout sooo I’m biased from the get go there.

More bourbon than coffee on the nose once in the glass. The front end is pretty boozy but that backend is really smooth and tasty. If you’re a black cold brew fan that’s what I’m getting on the backend. I’d like for the coffee to come through a little more than the bourbon itself, but it’s a pretty good mix.

    I’d say 7/10 so far.

I’m sure you saw, but they opened this weekend. Space is super nice, have to give them credit. They seem to be rotating the pappy stouts on draft as one kicks another goes on. I had the rye earlier today, really tasty.

They have most, if not all of the bottles available to go as well… I grabbed a couple on the way out.

Yep - i was actually down there on Friday briefly. They had Pittsburgh on tap, none of the pappy stouts - I grabbed a bottle of the Pappy then Blanton's, but i passed on the others. My cellar is just ridiculous right now - I shouldn't be adding.

I did go to the Cinderlands anniversary tasting on Saturday in Wexford. Fairly impressive lineup from them, and well worth $35 for 5 4oz pours with the dessert pairings.

Banks beer from Barbados - I'm mostly retired from alcohol but on the rare occasions I can get this I'll make an exception.

Wasn't cheap, but since I'm going to be in StL next weekend, I paid the premium for that Van Winkle Beer Barrel Time package - here's to hoping the beer is amazing.

It's been 2 weeks since our Covid passed and I still can barely taste beer. I get like 25% of the flavor. Like I can tell it's an IPA but get none of the hop complexities. It's pretty depressing, same goes for most beverages.

Find a local brewery and try theirs, gonna be better than anything mass distributed.

Went to Portland, Maine this weekend and had one of my favorite blueberry draft beers ever at Sea Dog. Had it before on a previous trip to Portland and can confirm it is still delicious. Also went to Liquid Riot and got a flight. 10 Year Promise was probably my favorite but El Camino, Namo and Love's Return were also solid.

Not sure if it's become nationwide news yet but I you like Anchor Steam beer, get it while you can. Anchor Steam will stop nationwide distribution soon. They're also not making their Christmas beer this year. Anchor Steam will only be available in California.

Anyone try a brewery in Nashua, Nh called Spyglass? They’ve been around for a few years and recently opened up a good size taproom. If you’re local, definitely check them out. Between them and treehouse, I pretty much don’t drink anything else

I've had a few things from Spyglass before - very solid stuff.

While I was in Queens, I did jump on the LIRR and head out to Copiague to grab drinks at Root + Branch - which, to me, is like a top 5 haze factory right now. Well worth the trip for any of you that are local or heading up that way - was only a 40 minute train ride one way. Nice and easy.
