Interesting story is that Viva La Vida the song wasn't supposed to be on the album as they were asked to take it off because they didn't sound like a band. But apparently Steve Jobs when he had the song played in an Apple commercial -that's what led to it being successful apparently and then the song blew up from there.

This album grew on me a lot. It has shades of the VLV album and MX album. Coloratura is a really cool song from them considering how pop-oriented and cookie cutter they've been these last few albums...I'm really hoping they play the whole thing on this tour.

Considering they plagiarized Joe Satriani, they should have left it off.

Coworker convinced me to go to Coldplay tonight. I know Yellow, Scientist and maybe one of the songs on Vida. Any recs on where to start album wise? Need to do a little homework while I’m getting stuff done around the house today lol

I saw them last time they were at AT&T Stadium. Probably the 2nd best overall show I've seen. My guitarist in my band is there tonight. Wife and I were gonna hit this show but decided not to go and are seeing Needtobreathe in Little Rock tonight.

Gonna be an amazing experience for anyone going!

Honestly probably just start from the beginning. I haven’t looked at the setlists from this tour yet, but I’m sure it’s pretty heavy on the last few albums.

Regardless, they put on a really fun show. I’ve seen them a few times and they’re up there for the best shows I’ve ever been to.

They don't really switch up their setlists much at all so I'd probably just take a look at their setlist from Mexico last month and make a playlist out of those songs.

Their first 4 albums are solid, legendary (very much like DMB). After that... it's hit-or-miss. They do melancholy well, it's gets far dicier when they go for uplifting club music. But up to and including Viva la Vida: sonic greatness.

    Coldplay was incredible.

Don’t know that I’ve ever been to such a big concert that fell so intimate. They played a venue that was built in the 30s and trying to fit 60,000 people into an area that was not built for 2022 traffic made it difficult to get in. Uber driver initially wanted to decline the ride when he found out where we were going but then agreed to get us within a mile. So we walked the rest and got there for the opener at just before 8. Caught last couple of songs from opener and then sat there for a looong break before Coldplay came on just before 9:30. From that point on, it was surreal how involved everyone in that massive stadium was. Ended up knowing all but a handful of songs and every one of their upbeat, non-ballad songs had the stadium (literally) shaking. In fact, my wife got cramped in our section so we took a quick break out to the concourse during La Vida and the bathroom stall walls were moving .

Fix You is probably my favorite song of theirs and it was hard not to shed a tear or two. Gave me goosebumps. My second favorite was the improv Dallas song that they played during their short two-song acoustic set: https://youtu.be/v0v-qpAFqLw

Overall, going into I had low expectations since I’m the most casual of Coldplay fans but the show/experience blew my mind.

I really like the song called Army of One, but they never play it live. Still can't believe that they are skipping Foxborogh.

That was the song the played at my wedding during our photo montage....and then 10 yrs later I got divorced LOL!

But yeah, I feel you. Love it as well, it just stings a little anytime I hear it these days :/

Viva LaVida has probably a good half dozen songs that I still love. They put out an EP later called Prospects March that has a remix called Life In Technicolor II that's one of my favorite CP songs ever. It was a fantastic creative period for the band for sure.

It had been awhile since I listened to VLV and it’s honestly right up there for me. It challenges Parachutes for second best Coldplay album.

    My opinion, of course.

They did some Q&A with fans last week and we're asked if any song they would like a re-do on. Will the drummer said he thinks they overthought the beginning of Swallowed In The Sea. I just found that interesting as X&Y is my favorite Coldplay album. My biggest gripe with the X&Y album is the placement of What If in the 2nd slot, i would have put that at the end of album, it's my least favorite song on X&Y
