I don’t think it’s the best CGI ever, but it’s fine.

Since I don’t read the comics I was unaware of the Gorr/Venom/Knull connection. I hope that all stays intact, but who knows if Sony allowed it: https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/th...king-in-black/

on rewatch, it does come off as being shot on a sound stage...

    ...which it is.

The only cgi that I’ve looked at so far and thought “they should fix it” is she hulk

Other than that none of that really bothers me

Finally just watched Spiderman No Way Home. Most of the spoilers had been unavoidable, so I knew all the villains and Spidermens were back, but not in what capacity, so it was still really enjoyable.

Is Iron Man 3 the most skippable MCU film in terms of not really missing any plot points or character introductions/developments that will come back into play in subsequent movies? I just rewatched it and I'm not sure one thing happens that would make anyone who watches later films feel like they missed anything.

I'm not saying it's the worst or that there's not value in a standalone, but it has to be the most skippable. Any other candidates?

IM3 is where we meet the Mandarin/Trevor Slattery, and then he shows up again in Shang Chi.

Oh yeah, I only saw Shang Chi once, forgot he came back. I still think it might win most skippable based on relative importance of that character and the throwaway lines they offer about why he's a prisoner of the Ten Rings.

I enjoy Iron Man 3 quite a bit. Wasn't that the time Agents of SHIELD was starting up and they tied the regenerating serum thing into the show?

It also marked the first MCU movie to go all in on the comedy. I loved the movie and then Mandarin ends up being Trevor and I rolled my eyes. This menacing badass ends up being a bumbling drunk actor at the end? THAT was stupid. Shortly after that the rest of the movies started adopting the humor element.

I would have said Black Widow, but I'm sure the introduction of Valentina is gonna play into future films/TV shows.

i would tend to agree with this.

i always forget about this film until i come across it, and i think my fav parts are just the dialogue with the kid.

i feel like everything else has some importance that makes it hard to skip leading up to Infinity War....but maybe honestly Thor: Dark World?? ..But the Thor and Loki moments are the best parts of that, and the emotional weight of this timelines Lokis eventual death once they run into Thanos is felt more because you're told via exposition that there's "no tricks" this time. Its final, and it obvious affects Thor

i think Iron Man 3 might be the only actual skippable film of that story arc.

They always had humor, and not just MCU - the comics themselves.

Trevor is great. And it gave us All Hail the King and then his return in Shang Chi.

Dark World also introduces one of the Infinity Stones, although I guess if you arrived at Infinity War and just find out one of the stones is in the possession of a dude called the Collector then that would be fine.

IM3 is more like Tony Stark 1. When I did my rewatch a few years ago I remember how little IM was actually in the movie. He's without the suit for the bulk of the film.

Maybe, maybe not. Forky Asks a Question was one per week if I remember correctly, and I think this will be similar to that.

Apparently it’s 5 shorts that all come out that day. Makes sense with She-Hulk starting the following week. Plus with Werewolf By Night, What If, and The Guardians Holiday Special still slated for this year, probably couldn’t have Groot taking up 5 weeks.

"Feige has confirmed the movie will take place in Marvel's Phase 5"

Seeing that Fantastic Four is still in phase 4 (as per the wiki at the moment), I would have my doubts that Blade will be in '23 if it's part of phase 5.

I could be wrong, but it seems like a '24 thing.

Iron Man 3 stood out as being a lot more comedic than the other movies at the time. Cap 2 kept a more serious tone and then Guardians came along and the movies became much more comedic. That can't really be denied. It's not a crack on the movies, is what it is.
