In a year with no touring. So many other bands put out great material in 2020, while DMB did DMB things.
I’ve said it before - I’ve lowered my expectations completely for this band in the last 5 years or so. Really helps to maintain a feeling of indifference when something is actually released.

I'm a little mixed on this. I revisited DMB for the first time in several years last year, and it's largely because of the Drive-In and SirusXM Friday shows. I haven't been able to see the band live for a while because they haven't come close to Kansas City (and honestly, this version of the band isn't worth traveling or paying a lot of money to see), but I listened to a lot of their older shows last year because I was stuck at home, writing and working. And I really loved all of that.
The biggest mystery to me was what Dave did with "Singing from the Windows." He wrote this beautiful song that truly spoke to the moment in a meaningful way, played it live a few times, and then just sat on it the rest of the year. Maybe he'll release it on a forthcoming album after the pandemic is over, maybe not. But the moment when it could have had the biggest impact and made the most difference in people's lives is over.
So I guess you're right. It's best to just tamp down expectations and hopes, and just be pleasantly surprised when something occasionally comes along that reminds you of why you loved the band at one point.
