Joanna newsom added more shows due to her demand. hopefully I can score tickets.

she's now doing 5 shows in NYC (increased from 3), all when i'm out of town. hoping I can grab tickets for her new show in Chicago (4th of 4).

Going to Chicago this summer and was disappointed to learn that Andrew Bird was playing the Chicago Theater the night we arrive. We already have Cubs tickets, so the show is not an option. However, just noticed he is playing the Ryman a few days before and we can probably hit it on the way!

Lost Rolling Stones due to Mick's illness. Picked up Eric Church at Pepsi Center in the same month.

Eyeballing Head & The Heart w/ Hippo Campus at Red Rocks along with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats at Red Rocks.

Still on the fence for DMB at Fiddler's Green. Will probably end up going, but maybe just night 2.

Anyone going out to Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley? Got my tickets and am super excited. Also will be going to Leon Bridges in Birmingham on 4/23, and Dave in Birmingham on 5/7. Maybe a few more shows that I'm trying to add as well.

I’ve been to BottleRock a bunch, but no plans to attend this year at the moment. It’s a great festival for its size. Grounds are easy to traverse. Amazing food and wine, of course, since it’s Napa. Kind of a pain to get to since it’s in downtown, but it’s a great spot and usually spectacular weather.

Yes, Dave does an awesome job guesting on Work It Out, but what I really like about the album is that it's more like old school Run DMC. It sounds and feels good.

I'm going to try to go for the first time this year. The last day's line up looks awesome.

Is the food/drink expensive as hell considering it's Napa and a festival? I really want to experience the food culture but I'm nervous it's going to be so f'ing expensive.

Wondering this as well. Already have all my tickets all lined up. Staying in SF and using Bottlerocks daily buses. Ticket was expensive as hell already so my wallet will be even more depleted after food and drink probably. Is it reasonable? Going out as a graduation present which will be a ton of fun though. Really stoked about the lineup. Saw Mumford on the Delta Tour a few weeks back and that was stunning to say the least

I have been to three shows in the last couple weeks - Mumford & Sons, Amos Lee, and Tim McGraw. All three of them were great shows, but they were all roughly under 90 minutes, including the encore. It really makes me appreciate the bands/artists like DMB who will play for 2-3 hours.

I really don't get it, most of my musician friends and I play multiple hour gigs solo whereas at the highest level you have full bands starting and ending in under 90 minutes including an encore break with high ticket prices. Justin Vernon solo show last year was barely an hour long.

I agree. This is something I've picked up and really appreciated lately.

Some shows I get it though. Like seeing Jeff Tweedy acoustic show. As much as I enjoyed it the show would've been too long if he'd played more than 90 minutes. It was like 26 songs and 90 minutes. It was the perfect amount.

Ed Sheehan played for 80 minutes and I thought the crowd was so bad he dipped early but apparently that was normal for him. Even though I didn't pay for the ticket it made me feel like I didn't get my money's worth.

I'm moving down to LA area this summer for the next 3 years. I know about the Greek, Hollywood Bowl, Staples...but what are the best midsize or smaller venues whose calendars I should follow? Or your fave venues? Any good source to follow on social media for LA shows?

I've only seen a show at the Rose Bowl in LA.

    Re: Your 2019 Concerts

Saw a couple concerts the past week

Midland was last Thursday, and I absolutely loved it. Never have been a country fan, but they have a different feel than today’s country. It’s a throw back to 60s-70s country and it’s fantastic. Very charismatic live performers. If you get the chance to check them out, definitely do it. They also play a ton of covers which is always nice, huge fan of their cover of Eastbound abound and Down. It’s awesome

And, I saw Leon Bridges on Tuesday and was blown away. Been a Leon fan for a long time, but damn, he was good live. Really did feel like Michael jackson and Otis Redding were combined into one human being on stage. Has amazing dance moves but also an incredible voice and an amazing band. He did a lot of songs in different keys from the album versions, and they sounded even better. Great live performer, and you don’t want to miss it. Think he’s headlining jazz fest this weekend. Also, his set design was fantastic, ten million times better than Dave’s this summer . . .

Stapleton was amazing at Moody tonight. The acoustics at that place are so great and his voice just tore the roof off.

I was at that Leon show. It was really great. The audience was kinda funny - couldn't decide if they wanted to stand and dance or sit down the whole show. Felt like I was at mass getting up and down so much.
