Draft King's Wife's Birthday Bash

I'm going to keep this a little vague for 2 reasons... 1 - Specific details don't really matter. 2 - I don't know how much of this, if any, is "privy" information, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble.

Anyways... last night someone close to me sent me the pic that I've attached. It's from the birthday party on 11.11.21 at Gillette Stadium... where the New England Patriots play. An associate of the person close to me was at the party because "they" are close associates with the CEO of Draft Kings, who threw the party. So here's what happened at the party...

1 - It was at Gillette Stadium. Where the New England Patriots play. I'm repeating that, because... let that sink in. It was a birthday party. At Gillette Stadium. Where the New England Patriots play.

2 - David Spade opened the nights entertainment.

3 - Beck played a set, opening for...

4 - Dave Matthews Band as the main entertainment of this person's birthday party being held at Gillette Stadium. Where the New England Patriots play.

5 - DMB Almanac is saying there were 300 people in attendance. Apparently it was closer to 900. Sadly, I wasn't there. So I couldn't say for sure.

I'm not sure the total cost of the party, but the cost of just DMB to play a 12 song set, consisting of absolutely nothing but radio hits and one cover song?... $4 Million Dollars.

Apparently the price tag was that high because Dave had a prior engagement last night and the contract had to be bought out. But regardless of the reason... damn. I need to play more fantasy football.

EDIT : I've tried to attach the photo, but the file is too large. If anyone has a work around, let me know.

Ya know for the bands politics generally being pretty liberal they usually end up at some corporate event or private event like this about once a year or so.

Anyone know anything or concerned as to why Jeff apparently wasn’t there last night? Hopefully if it was a last minute thing and he just had a prior commitment or the photo circulating that looked like he wasn’t there was just taken at a weird angle.

Jeff isn't in the Insta clip: https://www.instagram.com/p/CWKbYEls...dium=copy_link

I'm not excited when they do shows like this, but in the end, DMB is a business. That business employs a lot of people. And Dave would want to be a good boss, rake in the cash so they can keep paying their employees. They didn't tour last year and the future looks uncertain. Why not try to get some cash while you can to support the organization.

I mean it's on the way to MSG, might as well rack up some money.

I've seen the Killers do this in Dallas before. They waited until a radius clause expired on a festival contract in Arlington, and scheduled a quick show in Dallas and made one night of money. it's genius. Gonna be in the area anyways, might as well get some cash.

Uncasville to Foxborough is an hour and a half in the wrong direction if headed to MSG

Foxboro Stadium was demolished in 2002 and replaced by Gillette Stadium.
Beck (and Ben Folds Five) opened for DMB the first time DMB played Foxboro Stadium on 6/5/98. Over 23 years later, DMB plays its first show at Gillette, albeit a private one, and Beck is once again the opener.

I've always thought this. Money talks!

I've also always laughed at how DM is a big environmentalist/global warming guy, yet will fly home on his private jet in between shows just to get a day or two (sometimes less) in Seattle.

Should we put together an Ants crypto investment pool to save up for a private DMB show (and hopefully be able to have significant set list input)?

As a shareholder in Draft Kings, I should have been invited.

I made a sports bet at the casino in Seabrook, NH during the Preakness in May. (Pretty sure Draft Kings runs the Sports Book)

The majority of the band flies private between gigs. Dave, Carter, Rashawn, and Buddy specifically. It’s rare that they actually use their tour bus to travel from city to city unless it’s like a 2 hour drive to the next stop.

Area high schools frequently host proms at Gillette Stadium, where the New England Patriots play - sometimes during Revolution games. Still, it sounds like they threw down serious cash for the party, and thanks for sharing the info!

Email the photo to yourself, because your email will ask you if you want to compress the picture before sending to save on data. So select a smaller file size, and then when you get the picture in your inbox, try and attach that smaller-sized photo here.

As far as lavishness is concerned, absolutely, but that's a given considering the reported price tag of DMB alone. That the venue itself is frequently available for gatherings of all types isn't too different.

Bingo. In fact, they're almost always on Execjet, and this is likely their two flights to Teterboro post show last night: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...530Z/KOWD/KTEB https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...400Z/KOWD/KTEB

I mean Gillette Stadium has endless function rooms and has parties there all the time, having a top tier band like DMB come in and play on the field with an opening act and the whole 9 yards is wildly different

Again, I agree with the scope and size of it all. Were they on the field? Hard to imagine that would happen in the middle of the season 3 days before a home game.

Ehhh I don’t find it a massive issue. You can still promote the environment fly private. The band seems to offset most of the carbon they produce, plus the money they donate to environmental causes seems substantial.
