To correct my typo - It’s added when you add ANY variant of the poster, foil or not. I meant to type poster and accidents wrote foil in my original post. Sorry.

I wasn’t ever able to add a foil to my cart to see if the sampler cd was added (sold out)

But I was able to add a standard poster to the cart and I never saw a sampler cd (just a mystery live trax - which I believe is LT20)

Sampler CD is almost certainly just a free random Live Trax. Its automatically added when you add anything to your cart

At $20 I've bought one for my wife even though she didn't like the poster, but $35 is kinda high when the poster was only $50. I sorta like the idea even though I'd never wear the pin myself.

Not a big pin guy myself. I did think $35 was steep but I’m assuming the are pretty high quality. At least for that much the should be.

I have the same assumption and they all glow in dark w/ different colors.

But image instead it was $35 for different color BTCS vinyls? Or any of the albums remixed for analog pressing? Some Devil on vinyl!!!

Instead a Dodo pin... Such strange decisions

Over lockdown the pin trade became a HUGE business and DMB trading groups became very popular. The last set of DMB pins sold out instantly and some now resell on Facebook and eBay for over $100 a pin. I’m some circles, pins are no joke… they are gaining in popularity over posters.

I’m holding out hope for BTCS vinyl even if we don’t get extras at-least give us a well done analog.

Never going to happen but a fully mastered Lillywhite sessions would be incredible. Im just mentally prepared when they skip BTCS and go right to everyday.

Only DMB would release overpriced posters and pins of a song they’ve never actually played live. The poster was fine but the fact that people would pay $35 for a pin is unbelievable to me.

Yeah, I know about the growing pin thing for some bands' fans, they just aren't my thing...though we did nab a couple of the DMB Vote pins. If I'm going to wear a band thing, it'll be tees, hoodies, and caps (but never more than one wearable at a time...I only do that at Yankee games). But I can appreciate their appreciation of the medium. I think the Dodo pins are kinda cool looking, there's just never an instance where I'd imagine wearing one or displaying them in any way...

Yea I mean it is what it is and people can buy whatever they want and pay whatever they feel is fair.

We got to see it live and it was awesome. The SD album is one of our favorites in the DMB related catalog.

I wanted to like the poster more, but as good as the artist is, dodos aren't a great subject for art for us...not something we'd want on a wall or pinned on out clothes. As to the marketing/merchandise, it's not at all unique to DMB...just new to their merchandising. The whole song poster thing seems like something they should've done throughout the lockdown long with the Drive-Ins...more posters commissioned and sold to help the artists through the pandemic... But then there were still the issues with materials, printers, and shipping...so I guess it's better to do it now.

I wish all of the posters for the song series were better...maybe if they were based on better more revered songs. Dodo is by far the best song they've done a poster for to date...for me at least.

To be clear, Ben the artist here, is known for his pins just as much as his prints. $35 isn't crazy at all for his pins, and I will add that they are usually gigantic in person. I'm not a pin person by any means, but the price point is probably accurate in this case whether the appeal is there for you or not.

To clarify my original statement re: price...

I don't like pins enough to spend $35 dollars on one, but I didn't mean to imply that they were overpriced. The design, the manufacturing of the mold and the pressing of the pins, painting the pins in (what is it) six different varieties, the paint being glow in the dark, packing, shipping...

It's less about them being overpriced in any way for me, it's that I don't value pins much at all, let alone $35.

It's like folks I've met that don't see why you'd spend anything as much as or even more than $1,000 on an electric guitar, but will drop thousands on a good acoustic. It's all about perspective.

Again, I'm all about helping artists, be they musicians, writers, graphic artists, etc. and regardless of medium. I just need to like what they make and have some use for it. Turns out I love concert posters, but pins? Not so much.

You’ve never seen DMB play Dodo. DMB has never played Dodo. That was my point.

Dodo is an incredible song that should have been played regularly a la So Damn Lucky for nearly 2 decades, but for whatever reason Dave has chosen not to.

Releasing that song specifically as a poster and an expensive pin, while cool, is just random and odd.

My point is less about his experience specifically and more about the fact that the band has not played this song. Ever. It’s a reiteration of that absurdity.

I’m jealous that grilldanmo got to see Dodo live. I’m pissed that Dave has refused to bring it to DMB.

Yup...wicked preggers wife...missed all but Nancies from D&T opening because of shit traffic from VA to Uni Park (got a bootleg about a week later so we could hear the tunes). But the main show, with SH, HB, CC, AT...best collection of covers of any Dave related show we've seen...

I agree it's random though, it makes me think the artists might be picking the songs instead of the band OR the songs are being matched to specific artists...if they're willing.

Love the bioworkz Dave & Carter poster, but the dodo is a no no for us.

Given the animosity we've all heard about, I'm surprised that any of the SD tunes made it back to the band. But I completely agree that Dodo should definitely be one of tunes that deserves more plays.

That said, there's a long ass list of DMB tunes we've yet to hear DMB play that I'd love to hear first...we didn't get DMB The Stone until SPAC this year... That, however, is a topic long in the tooth in so many threads. Accurate, but not worth going on a tangent about in this thread.
