I LOVED Wednesday's webcast. We watched it 'live', without looking at the setlist; it was wonderful to be completely surprised by every song.
Overall was very pleased with the show. Highlights for me (in temporal order):
- the energy / crowd reaction to Buddy's solo on Bayou
- Fool To Think (!!)
- Water For Wine (!!!!!!)
- No classic rock-leaning covers (Sledgehammer, Money, etc)
- No long meandering slow jams (eg - the end of Mercy)
I'd like to continue hearing 2018 and 2019 shows for the next few. I had the same thought about Vegas: +1 about that. It'd be great to get a show that I've been to (including that Alpine 06 monster) but I find it even more fulfilling to get a show that I know nothing about, so the setlist can be a surprise. Maybe something from late 2019 next?
The biggest opportunity for improvement from 6.29 for me was the mix: I found it washy / indistinct in some places, especially at the end of Minarets and throughout all of Samurai Cop. Of course, I know they're mixing these super quickly; I certainly couldn't do a better job.
Overall, I'm just SO excited that they're doing this. It gives us something wonderful to look forward to every week -- and I can't wait to see where they take it!
Hope everyone is doing well out there today.❤️
