Anyone else watch this series premiere tonight on Showtime? I thought it was a damn solid premiere and it really looks promising as a series. This episode featured about 5 ex-Oz stars and the main character is the gay bro from Six Feet Under. Looks like Showtime wants to compete with HBO (using HBO's own personnel); combine the potential of this show with Weeds, and HBO might get a run for its money in the Tv Series department. (especially with HBO's best shows either gone or on their final run.).

All in all, I'd recommend checking Dexter out.

Did my title make you think that Dexter's Laboratory was being picked up as a non-animated series on Showtime, and if so, did that turn you on?

It was damned good. I'd wait as close to next week's episode as possible if I were you. The end of the pilot is going to make for a LONG wait till next week for me.

I just watched the first episode.

Pretty interesting. A bit...hmm...something, but I definitely want to see more.

It's almost like a super-hero type thing, in a way. Well, a vigilante super-hero. Like the Punisher or something.

The wife and I both love Weeds, and it looks like Dexter will be good too.

At first I only caught the last half of the pilot when it premired. I saw the first half last night, and this show is fucking great. I can't wait until the next episode. I think it is better than Weeds, although, that show is taking an interesting turn.

Excellent pilot in my opinion. Michael C. Hall deserves an award for everything he does.

You rat bastad. I also noticed the leak... but I want to watch my shit in HD!!

I really liked the build up of the second episode. I'm wondering if they are building toward a meeting of the two killers, or towards a crazy plot twist such that Dexter is the prostitute killer. Now, Dexter being both killers wouldn't play with the morality his dad taught him about being a serial killer, but they could always explain the twist with more back story (and combine it with his sexual frustration with his girlfriend).

Though, I do think they're playing him to be a Spawn type "hero"... so I don't think they'll go in my crazy minded direction... though, they might want to throw a deeper duality into his character.... not sure.... but intrigued.

Just some thoughts.

I don't really think so either... though I don't think they've completely painted themselves into a corner such that he couldn't be. If they did go in that direction, this early though, I think it would be hard to go much further than one season.... spreading themselves to thin, if you will.

Exactly what I thought, too. I was just wondering last night if they'll reveal the killer (or build to it) for this season's break or if it's going to be drawn out over several seasons.

That's the problem I see ahead for this show. I mean, it's great now, but if every episode is basically the same (Dex wacks a badguy or two and the other killer leads him on more) it's going to get old fast. I hope they keep it fresh.

I'll let you know in a couple hours. Someone from where I'm getting it said that the first 3 episodes were on On Demand and that's where it's probably from.
