So because of that example, everyone from Mexico is a rapist? Because when Trump made those comments during the campaign, he didn't specify just criminals/drug deals (and the rapist piece was an afterthought). He said "Mexico is sending". No caveat. He painted with a broad brush.

Let me ask you Ricky - are you really giving Trump the benefit of the doubt that he isn't a racist in any way? If so, why?

He makes it clear he believes Mexico isn't sending ANY good people over. There's no leap, that's his direct quote. Do you agree with that quote - that Mexico isn't sending anyone good? If they aren't sending anyone good, would the logic then be that they're all bad; all drug dealers/criminals/rapists? What else could he mean?

Again, I'll ask - are you really giving Trump the benefit of the doubt that he isn't a racist in any way? If so, why?

Or, maybe (just maybe), he's a racist because he's said and done a lot of racist things.

We've gone from housing discrimination, complaining about "Indians" and their casinos in AC, not wanting black people counting his money because "laziness is a trait in blacks", saying a Mexican American judge couldn't be fair because of his "heritage", saying Mexico sends rapists and murderers here, saying the Central Park 5 are still guilty after DNA evidence cleared them, his "good people on both sides" quip on C'Ville, Shithole countries remarks, and on and on.

I'm just curious what it will take for the MAGAers and reluctant defenders to accept that a 70+ year old white dude born into privilege probably is kinda racist? A tape of him saying the N-word? Somehow I don't think even that would do it.

But I've asked multiple times now and the question continues to get ducked. So I'm just curious. If someone believes he's not a racist, shouldn't that be a fairly straightforward position to defend?

I think it's indisputable that Trump is a racist.

I called him President White Power last night and I said that in some measure of jest. I genuinely don't know if he is an identitarian/white nationalist/Nazi sympathizer/whatever-they're-branding-themselves-as-this-week, but he does say and do an awful lot of things that are convenient, sympathetic and helpful to that crowd.

And I do think he's comments about MS-13 were, in concert with other things he's said and other words/actions to demean, dehumanize and belittle people who aren't "in his tribe" quite disturbing.

But just to be absolutely clear, especially to Shotgun: All I said is that they're people. I didn't say good or bad. I just said people. People.
