For the receiver, are you going to be using it just for listening to music, or for home theater? If it's the former, I'd go with a straight 2-channel stereo amp/receiver rather than a multi-ch AVR for vinyl listening.

Alex makes good points.

Floorstanders would be the optimal choice if budget and space permit. However, I’ve had a couple pairs of bookshelf speakers and I’ve always been very happy with them on stands in my 2 channel system. Earlier this year I upgraded and decided to get higher end bookshelves for the same amount as floorstanders from a less expensive line from the same brand. Don’t regret that decision one bit.

If you go with an AVR and a sub and listen to music in 2.1 (stereo plus the sub engaged), even more reason to consider bookshelves. A lot of AVRs have a pure direct mode for music or something similar where it just feeds the left and right channel with no crossover to the sub or other processing - in this case, floorstanders could be better put to their full potential.

Thanks, I love the classic look of the Lintons especially on the stands. I have this fear of traditional floor standing speakers overpowering the room and my space. At the same time I have this fear of potentially having to keep the Lintons away from the wall for optimal performance (and overpowering the room)

I'm also worried about my amp. I have the Yamaha AS301 and love it and not ready to go down the road of upgrading that so I need to make sure whatever I land on the 301 can handle it.

That’s understandable. Definitely check out the Hoffman forum to get an idea of how people placed their Lintons in their listening spaces. And what kind of amps they’re using. Looks like the AS301 has 60 WPC? Whether or not that would work with floorstanders probably depends on efficiency of the speakers, listening volume and how far you’ll be sitting from them.

I picked a used copy of the Tom Petty Live Anthology - got the 4 cd for $12. I’ve read positive comments about the vinyl box from some people in here. I haven’t ever listened to much Petty, so looking forward to checking out his stuff for cheap

i was so pumped last week. i got a text that one of the albums i've been trying to find for a while now was posted on discogs (i'm using that alert system)...

i hope on, it's there, listed below what i'd pay. from store in japan, $18 shipping, but who cares.

buy it, pay for it. go to bed excited.

wake up next morning, they cancelled. said they had internal system error that posted albums they don't have...

it's such a silly album, but seems hard to find. want it bad.

I just have one, a UTurn Orbit I bought when I wanted to check out vinyl a couple years ago. But lately I’ve been eyeing the Rega P3... I want one

I was really glad I sprang for the 7 LP version because the home recordings are so fantastic! A lot of times that type of bonus material in these box sets is stuff you end up listening to once and never revisiting but that's going to get a lot of spins from me. I also loved that the live tracks were *all* previously unreleased versions and they didn't duplicate any of the Wildflowers live versions that appear on Live Anthology.

The home recordings are way more polished recordings than I expected. They are legit, full-fledged demos.

Hi. Seldom post, but looking for a bit of help on my still-sealed Crash vinyl (yes, never opened and now selling, the purchase of a vinyl setup looks like it will never happen). I thought I had bought a splatter variant, but I can't tell from the outside. It's a double LP from 2016. Anyway to tell what I have so I can list it properly? There is no hype sticker, nothing about grams, no splatter reference. Thanks.

Thanks for a the heads up on this! Mine just arrived today. I'm not even a really big Dead guy but, this is one of those live albums that belongs in everyone's collection and it's great to have a nice AAA copy!

Mine arrived yesterday. Amazon didn't even put it in a box. They just attached the shipping label directly to the album. Of course the cover was torn to shreds and the album itself cracked.

I got a copy as a Christmas gift that was ordered back in November or early December when an Amazon seller had them for $51. Mine arrived with no issues. Great album.

Sealed and no hype stick is VERY likely to be the splatter.

Tom's daughter played a few tracks on Rick Rubin's Broken Record podcast. Rick said the exact same thing. They were stellar.

I ordered the 4 CD set last night. I want to read a bit more about it, but will likely order the 3 LP at some point. Apparently Wildflowers is AAA, but it’s not the same cut from the box set from a few years ago.
