Good grief. Ya'll can't be serious thinking we're having concerts this year. Once I heard the word "variant" I cancelled all I could and got refunds.

Except there’s been variants going back to last summer and none of them have been shown the vaccines to be ineffective.

Sadly, I don’t have any expectation or belief that there will be any shows through to and including this fall.

NYTimes published this interactive graph article a few days ago that shows various changes and how it will effect the point at which herd immunity becomes possible. most of them show that, when including people who have already been infected, herd immunity should happen around mid summer. there are changes that could push that off to early fall, and changes that could speed it up to late spring. i think if vaccine rollout continues without any hiccups, and more people come around to the idea of getting it, which seems to be happening, venues will want to try to have something happen by the end of the summer. i imagine the sports leagues will be pushing to have full stadiums and arenas for that time frame as well. enter at your own risk if you're not vaccinated, or require proof of vaccine to enter.

Wish I would remember to revisit this very moment in posting when we are about July 4 and the trackers and stats are now focusing on individual "variants" that we will eventually be told require a booster have postponed everything until we get it. And I'm sure it will take 9 months to come up with the booster.

The media is trying to milk as much out of this variant business as they can. Yes, there are different variants, but the vaccine is supposed to work on all of them, with varying degrees of success. It’s something that will have to be tweaked with as we go forward, similar to the flu shot. The news of these variants does not scare me, but the media and governments responses to them absolutely does.

Perhaps those who think that we're going to reach herd immunity by Memorial Day should be sending letters and e-mails to DMB Management, telling them, and including all the articles predicting it, while explaining that it's probably safe to go ahead with the shows as scheduled.

Well you strike me as the kind of cool person that will set a reminder in your iPhone calendar.

And even if that were true, you don’t need to “come up with a booster”—a booster is just an additional dose of the same vaccine.

The vaccine news is good. The vaccines work. The problem is we don't know for how long.

We're doing good, but the nice weather, st. patrick's day weekend and spring break coming up makes me think another spike is possible.

As long as people go get jabbed in the arm a time or two we're going to be okay...for live music in 2022.

What if they just offered free tickets with your 2nd vaccination? Like DMB sponsored vaccine at a venue they play at in your city.. Go there today and got a shot and get your free ticket!

COVID-19 was the best thing to openly draw the lines in the sand with DMB fans. It make people come out of their respective shells and speak openly about this which naturally turned into a internet flame war. It turned into a political and theological conversations which is always very interesting amongst DMB fans.

Live Nation CEO Says Largescale U.S. Concerts Could Start Mid-Summer

Based on conversations with governors in key U.S. states, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino is optimistic that large-scale American concerts are closer than ever to returning. He said that “a clear outline to a 75% to 100%” capacity for outdoor U.S. events in 2021 was looking likely to be green-lit.”

Speaking on Live Nation’s Q4 2020 earnings call and as reported by Music Business Insider, Rapino said, “[We] think we’re better off waiting for a high bar capacity moment in most of the states to ramp up and talk to the artists about getting paid properly.”

Yeah I've been thinking that the first leg of the tour will be cancelled and just start on the west coast, and it'll roll over into a fall/winter tour.

But in all seriousness. Good to see something from the source, now someone’s gotta be “the first”.

Nice to see some sort of tour news/hope. Maybe even start the tour at the Gorge in Sept. and roll from there? So many factors so who really knows??? The thought of masks at shows (which I'm fine with...anything to see DMB live again) would be challenging. I can imagine the different mask theories and beliefs being expressed between drunk fans.

Just so I don't my resident cynic card, of course a CEO is going to be optimistic on an earnings call. "Hey, investors and shareholders... you're all fucked!"
I'll believe it when my vaccinated ass is tailgating in Dallas.

Looks likely? I wouldn’t go that far. More like maybe possible. Although your initial prediction on the corona shit was pretty spot on. I was hoping you were dead ass wrong last year at this time. Now this year I’m hoping you are correct.
