Heard this from many people, and I echo the sentiment. You could hear so much in the mix better, including the Rashawn and Buddy backing vocals.

Thanks for doing the stats Brandon! It's cool to see what Dave changes from year to year and what songs stick to the venues!

This weekend was amazing. From the opening notes of Pig I knew this weekend was going to be special for a lot of us. Pig was the perfect opener for me having not been to a show since 2018, it's a top 3 song for me (#41, Pig, Best of What's Around). I turned to my wife and I was tearing up, I've never had that happen before, it was perfect. Overall this weekend was amazing. My highlights were: Pig, Walk Around the Moon, Jimi Thing (I can't believe I'm saying that), Grey Street (3rd Verse), Grace is Gone, Lie in Our Graves, #27, Minarets, Crush (maybe my favorite version I've gotten live), R&R / #41 / Cornbread with Joe Lawlor, Typical Situation, & Steady as We Go. This is the end of the summer for me but cannot wait to be back at the Creek next year for shows 23 & 24!

    Tyler's Personal Stats: Full Band Shows 21 & 22

Last Show: 7.6.2018 - so everything was a liberation for me

6 Personal Live Debuts: Walk Around the Moon, That Girl is You, Can't Stop, Joe Avery's Blues, #27, Steady as We Go

1st time seeing Preservation Hall Jazz Band & Joe Lawlor guest

    Biggest Gaps Between Performances:
-Break Free (last seen Chicago 7.9.11)
-Rhyme & Reason (last seen Riverbend 5.29.12)
-Lie In Our Graves (last seen Deer Creek 6.21.13)
    -Sister (last seen 6.21.13)

    -Jimi Thing (12)
    -What Would You Say (11)
    -Tripping Billies (10)

Not gunna lie I didn't see the hype of traveling to Deer Creek about 8-9 years ago when I began trying to expand my Horizons past Hartford. Like why the heck would I go to nap town when I already live in a small entertainment market like Hartford. Keep in mind living in new england and preivously working at StubHub I know a lot of people who are pats fans and or worked final fours and superbowls in Indy from StubHub and they said indy was ok and a small downtown. But as I begin to meet more fans from Indy through the years online and in person they kept telling me to come and finally went this weekend.

    1. This was the best non gorge lawn I have ever seen as far as sightlines, energy, and sound power from the amazing stacks they had in the lawn. I had uppers but I actually walked through the top of the lawn a few times to experience it. This is huge because the lawns out east outside of Gilford are absolute trash view wise. If I ever come back and can't snag a decent seat I will gladly get wh lawn for a night and steak out a spot early.

    2. The Tailgated exceeded the positive stories I already had heard. Everyone was kind and generous and it was overall good vibes.

    3. The crowd was knowledgeable but more easy going at least in the area I was in.

    4. The midwest hospitality around Indy was awesome and I enjoyed staying in town for a few days and hitting the speedway

    5. As a black DMB fan this venue had the most of my fellow black dmb fans that lived in town which was dope because like wayne brady said on chappelle's show black DMB fans gotta stick together lol.

Got a wedding shortly and bigger house purchase next year. But if the squad is still touring in a 3-4 years, I definitely hope to come back.

That is all awesome to hear. Us locals do take pride in our home venue so its great to know that Deer Creek's perceived reputation in the DMB world still rings true. Come back soon and congrats on the wedding (if it is yours) and the new house!

Great to hear. I have only seen the band at Deer Creek, although I would love to see them at the Gorge but If I never do then I'm ok with that because Deer Creek is one of the best. Glad you enjoyed the Creekend!!

Had a great time this past weekend. Saw PHJB at The Gorge in 2018 and loved seeing them on Friday. Felt bad for Tim, but didn't necessarily missed him. It was warm, but not over the top awful.

Only negative was I got my self worked up thinking we'd get Dreaming Tree or Shotgun. I should have done that

    Re: ***Official Deer Creek 2022***

So I'm fascinated by this "Steady as We Go is a problem thing".

From 2007-present (15 years) - the song has shown up a whopping 9 times at full band shows.

2006 - the year following its debut and album promotion they only played it 5 times

    2007-2017 - a massive 1 play at the Gorge in 2014

2018 - It made its grand return and was utterly RUTHLESS with 6 plays in 43 shows

2020 - Look out, he played it on one of the Sirius request shows!

2022 - 1 of 73 songs played during the 3 night Dave & Tim Mexico shows

And now...2 times its shown up on tour...THE HORROR!!!!

I'm pretty sure its not a problem song in "rotation"(?) and hasn't been...ever? But, bros don't like mushy slow ones...so they gotta rage about it

And I'm aware, the complaint has to do with it ending the show. But, this was getting griped about when it showed up at Hartford too.

For me, I understand the circumstances of that night, realize I don't pick the songs, and give it a pass like a reasonable human being.

Not knowing what happened in the moment, the set just felt unfinished.

At that point, all I thought was they could have played anything and it would have capped off the night perfectly.

Now with all the info, it makes complete sense and doesn't take away from the show for me personally at all. Doubt ill ever get SAWG again nevermind closing out a show.

Going into the weekend, Steady was one of the e1 songs I was hoping for because of it's rare plays and I would love to hear every song live at least once (I know it'll never happen lol). n2 I was hoping for Steady, when Rye Whiskey started I was pretty bummed but it was actually a solid version and I belted out the chorus and verses along with Dave. Then when we got Steady I was super pumped to hear it live but then I also thought we were in for a special encore to follow that song, then the show ended. It definitely felt weird. But knowing Carter was hurt and Tim was gone, it makes sense.

Would I have loved if Dave just played Stay solo after Steady to end the night, oh yea! But it was still a great performance of Steady and will probably be the only show ever that it closes the encore so I'll gladly take it lol

Yup. Going into the 2022 tour, if I told you Deer Creek would end the weekend on a big rarity that hasn't been played there in 16 years and 9 times total in the last 15, I'm sure you'd say "Hell yeah, bring it!"

Yeah - Rye Whiskey won me the hell over with that performance. And Stay is not a song I think I'll ever complain about being cut or missing. I think what happened was certainly more memorable than what was on paper.

Also, people act as if that 2 song encore just absolute erased maybe the best main set of the this tour and possibly last year's tour too.

I'll take that bizarre, weird, confusing, short encore that lands a big rarity over a Sister>Shake Me or Something to Tell My Baby>Stay Windows>Stay, Sister>Why I Am or whatever boring combo he could have done.

As far as songs go. Steady as we go is in the bottom part for me. Rarity or not, it's going to do nothing for me. Ending a show regardless of the reason is gong to leave me wanting more. I can understand why they did it. But that doesn't mean I'm going to all of a sudden love it.

Yeah and I get that, the circumstances just make it much easier to digest, bad luck for Carter and just happy he seems to be no worse for the wear.

SAWG is far from the top or the bottom for me, it’s fine, I really like the story tellers version though (sick outro). Glad to check it off the list.

I did love the rest of the show though, the run through Typical was solid AF, only a couple I didn’t care for (early set Samurai and Satellite) and even those are far from the ones I want to typically avoid. R&R was an all-timer for me, loved it.

Eventually knowing Stay was the closer probably helps with the cope too.

I'll take that bizarre, weird, confusing, short encore that lands a big rarity over a Sister>Shake Me or Something to Tell My Baby>Stay Windows>Stay, Sister>Why I Am or whatever boring combo he could have done.
Totally agree. The fact that we didn't get Shake Me or Seven was truly a gift lol

This weekend was incredibly special. I think I liked n1 a little more than n2, just personal preference, but the whole weekend was amazing. I also think my fandom is in a healthier place than it was several years ago lol so I loved it and can't wait for my next shows!

I have always been a fan really but to end the show on it it’s not great no matter the rarity. My one time seeing the eagles ended with desperado just not a way I want to see a rock concert end. Same can be said with Pearl Jam and Ledbetter. I’d rather see Baba O Riley take the final spot.

With that said I’m sure Dave just had no clue what to do. Had Tim been there my guess is we see Dave and Tim come out to finish like at The Gorge last year. Just an unfortunate situation. Didn’t ruin my night by any means and I’m very happy with my one show for 2022.

Jones Beach stats in the house. Almost half the show was either new or not played much there. Only 5 Big 3 songs in the set...but you know, that's an ok/acceptable thing when we are talking about the Northeast. Just hits differently there.

    Venue Stats: Jones Beach

6 Never Played Before: Madman's Eyes, Sweet, The Only Thing, Break Fort It, Walk Around The Moon, Virginia In The Rain

1 Tour Debut: Shake Me Like A Monkey

2 Songs Played Last time at Jones Beach (2021): Grey Street, So Damn Lucky

    1st since 2012 - So Right

    1st since 2013 - The Stone

1st since 2015 - Recently, Shake Me Like A Monkey, Two Step (full band)

    1st since 2016 - Crush (full band)

    1st since 2017 - Crush (D&T), Two Step (D&T)

    NIGHT 1
    3rd Pig opener (Last 2016)
9th Ants Marching set closer (last 2021)
1st You Might Die Trying show closer

I think this is my first time posting in the DC thread AFTER the shows.

Hit N2 and damn, that was one of the best shows I've seen since 2016. Not much else to add. It was awesome. Love reading what everyone else thinks.

    Re: ***Official Deer Creek 2022***

I want to note up top that Holmdel has a gap where 1998-2012 has zero shows there. So 2 of those eye-popping stats are mostly due to that drought in shows. Majority of this show on the low play counts for this place. Granted...a lot of it was newer material. Only 7 Big 3 songs tonight, 8 from the 1991-2000 era. Again on the low side 2 nights in a row.

    Venue Stats: Holmdel

6 Never Played Before: Shotgun, Walk Around The Moon, Stay or Leave, You Never Know, Madman's Eyes, She

    1 Tour Debut: Some Devil

3 Songs Played Last time at Holdmel (2021): Sledgehammer, You and Me, Ants Marching

    1st since 1996 - Seek Up

    1st since 1997 - Too Much

1st since 2013 - Jimi Thing (full band)

    1st since 2014 - Stay

1st since 2015 - Anyone Seen the Bridge, Don't Drink the Water (full band), Funny the Way It Is (full band), So Much To Say, When the World Ends

    1st since 2016 - Break Free

1st since 2017 - Don't Drink the Water (D&T), Funny the Way It Is (D&T), Jimi Thing (D&T), Some Devil (D&T)

    NIGHT 1
    1st Shotgun opener
2nd Stay set closer (last 2014)
2nd Ants Marching show closer (last 2013)

2nd ever: Seek Up, When the World Ends, Do You Remember, Break Free, Sledgehammer, Stay, Some Devil
3rd ever: Funny the Way It Is, Anyone Seen the Bridge, Too Much

    OTHER NOTABLES:
    -1st ever Shotgun opener
