I think it will be called hippopotamus. Dave has let us know about saving the elephants and the rhinos, I believe he is now on to saving the hippos. A lot of the songs will have real live hippo sounds in them. We used to get a bit of ping pong or foot steps or quiet conversation in the songs. I believe we'll get a loud honk or two from a wild hippo... That's what Dave has been doing these last couple months. Trying to capture a wild hippo sound on his phone to mix in with the final edits on these songs.

The phrasing is classic DM, it's disjointed but concise. Says a lot without doing too much.

It's tough at a show, I hear you there. I think a studio cut would help you get there with it

If by snooze fest you mean that it's calm and relaxed and yet filled with musical tension then, then yes, it's a snooze fest.

It has a pleasant melody and the horns and violin playing are so melancholy that it makes you feel sad in a good way. I love Dave's "solo" which makes me immediately think of Carlos Santana. It's just a simple and beautiful song.

This would probably be a beautiful studio song but I have no interest in hearing it played live again. Especially as an opener

So if it is a final album, it won't be the last round of touring or tunes from DMB anytime soon.

I joined this website in 2009. I remember talk of "How many years does Carter have left?" during THAT time. It's amazing to hear he wants to play until he can't play.

Half of this band is under 50. They could realistically tour another 15 years if Carter and Dave stay healthy...hell, i could see Tim being like 80 and still doing what he does. The guy is not from this planet.

Yes. I believe will get a singing from the windows and/or ocean with the same quick little recap that He and the band got together to make something tiny. Just a tiny song. Just make some noise and it was fun to get together for the first time in awhile and we made this tiny little song.

yep this is how I feel too. Everyday that has gone by in the last 6 months we've known it was done have been getting more and more frustrating for me. I'll go through periods of anger, then periods of sadness, then finally periods of acceptance. The cycle then repeats. I'm a wasted shell of a man.

Well the years where they aren't supporting an album are generally better than those when they are and I miss live music as much as you so yes!

I'd love that, but I see no chance. Dave was noodling in the forest in Virginia, and wrote all new songs. I DO think if the pandemic never happened, we may have seen a Batson produced album with KTK and a couple other Batson Sessions songs on there, but I think that went out the window. Stefan said they'd all be new as well.

They MUST be waiting on the tour update to announce the album right??

Not sure why we can't have both, but if I had to choose one I would go with a new album. I only go to 1 show a year anyways. It's always exciting to hear new stuff.

I think these shows are really cool and we all know they like giving us downloads of concerts we already heard for free cough** warehouse sessions cough**

live shows are exciting and cool, but i also only go to 1 (maybe 2) a year, and it costs a lot more money than streaming a new album that I can be excited about

Dave has said it's "done" basically. Fonz has said he played upright bass on 2 tracks. I feel like they are figuring out how they want to couple the album with the tour status. In the next 2 months I think we get quite a bit of DMB news.
