Question for Padres fans…how has Profar been?

I remember when the Rangers somehow hyped him as a 5 tool superstar and he was the #1 prospect across the board at one point. I think there were rumors of him being traded for Stanton back in 2011/2012. That seems so ridiculous now.

Lotta folks who have had their head in the sand as the team collapsed in September. This is the finishing touch. The hitting is awful, the pitch sequencing has become so predictable (hence all the HRs of late), and they are a day away from their offseason.

Lotta soul searching for some of these guys. Hope for some big roster turnover. 2 consecutive seasons of pretty awful collapses.

Imagine being this shitty of a fan for a 101 win team after one loss in the playoffs. Woof.

They had an excellent 4.5 months of baseball! They played at a very high level. No one doubts that.

But they went .500 in September with the easiest schedule in the league, and got swept to lose the the division in last week of the season, losing their bye and forcing a face off with the Padres who have own them this year and just smoked them. It’s a collapse, no matter how good they were in the first 80% of the year.

They blew a golden opportunity this year. They did the same last year. They haven’t won a playoff game in 7 years and have only made the playoffs 6 times in the last 34 years. Every other team in their division has won the World Series in my lifetime, but not these lousy Mets (and maybe that’s part of the allure - they’ve always been the tough luck club with sporadic spurts of fun mixed with a whole lot of letdown).

And through all that I stick with them. I guess if a post on a 90’s band message board telling it like it is qualifies me as a “shitty fan”, so be it

Profar is my favorite player on the team. I love that dude.

He’s had his best year as a Padre in 2022. He was huge for stretches and had a really strong stint as lead off earlier. He definitely never lived up to his #1 overall prospect hype, but he has played a huge role on this year over the course of the year.

Imagine how good this team could be if Soto was remotely close to himself, even. Can’t wait for Fernando to be back next season. Hoping we can make a run to eat into even more of his jail time. We’re ready to welcome him back.

Playoffs don’t count towards his suspension.

I really hope he can mature a bit and return as a new man. He’s really fun to watch, it would be a shame if he could get his head right and wasted his career being a knucklehead.

I don’t pay attention to baseball enough to make predictions, it just always humors me when people melt down after one loss and start talking about how they have to blow everything up. It’s the most annoying type of fan, IMO.

I’ve read that the playoffs DO count towards the 80 games.

    https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...hing-need-know

“Tatis' 80-game suspension begins Friday and will last through the remaining 48 regular-season games. How long it extends into 2023 will hinge on how deep the Padres play into the postseason”

The 2021 Mets were the worst first place team I had seen. There was no way they were going to sustain that for the rest of the year. 3 players had an OPS+ over 100. McCann had an OPS+ of 76 and somehow has done worse this year. And we had to trade for Lindor's best friend because of how unhappy he was during his first year and choking out McNeil in the tunnel.

These two things don't happen together, but I think deGrom and the offense shows up tonight.

I think Degrom and Snell are lights out tonight. Degrom coming back towards the mean and Snell stays hot. Gonna come down to the 6-9th.

I was so done with Snell by the end of June. Seemed like every game I went to he was pitching. Kudos to him for playing to his mean having a really solid second half like he’s done in the past.
