Not a huge fan of su but there are definitely more songs on it I'd rather hear then on ct. I don't agree on b&bb, I think it's on of the better songs they released since Roi passed, although the album version is awful.
I actually think old dirt hill is better than everything on ct, with the exception of b&bb and ioy.

Both things can be true. Grey St is a classic and always welcome but it does sound a little flat and uninspired lately.

I’ve definitely recently expressed the opinion that Grey St should take a break. On a personal level, in my pretty minor amount of shows I’ve seen over the years, it’s my most seen song and I have to go back to 2015 for the last time I didn’t get it at a show. It’s certainly far, far from their worst song, but all the same I’m tired of it. I do recognize that my opinion is at odds with the overwhelming majority of any given show crowd. Crowds love it, it gets a great pop at shows (and Dave/the band clearly love it) so therefore it’s most likely not going anywhere. So, in accordance with the purpose of this thread, that’s my unpopular opinion.

If I make it that far, I’m paying Dave to write a score for my movie.

They added the 3rd verse back in, and now it's uninspiring?

Not gonna lie, every time I hear people force out a cheer for the 3rd verse when it has been back for a few years now I cringe to my core. I don't know what more can be done to spruce up a Grey Street performance, you could call it "canned" because well it is, but none the less it is a quick and appreciated song across many sections of the fanbase. So when it comes to what Dave leans on to slop together sets I don't think any critiques of Grey Street needs to be priority at this point. Don't hammer it into E2 too much otherwise we have much bigger problems in sets.

Yes. The missing verse doesn’t make up for how flat and unenthusiastic it sounds lately. Rashawn does his worst to the song and the horns blaring all over makes it sound less like a poetic description of depression and more like a conga line at a party retreat. Just listen to what used to be the really nice fill Carter used to do at the beginning. You would hear that fill and feel the excitement. Now? It’s just “clunk thud boom BAH. BAH BAH BAH. BAH BAH BAH”

I mean if you're comparing it to 22 years ago I see your point. I think it's sounding better the last 3 years than it has since like 2007 though.

In general, Carter has gotten pretty lazy with intros across the board especially songs that have quick starts. It always feels like the a quick measure of sloppy. DDTW, TB, Rapunzel to name a few.

Rashawn has major issues matching his tone and playing to the original feel of the song and the lyrical meanings. He just blasts away. Ruined the band.

The first “letter to the band” was hilarious. But I feel the nitwits here are working on a second. A second coming “letter to the band” would be embarrassing

More unpopular for the band than the fans, but I'd love for the band to go back into the studio and do a full album of more stripped back material a la Ocean and the Butterfly. They are older, and it would be nice for the band to compliment the quieter folk stuff Dave is drawn to now than to try for bangers every studio album, ultimately replacing perfectly good tunes with other songs in search of a hit. Get the guys together for a week, record everything they do including the little jams and rehearsal takes, work on some finished stuff, and get cooking. A nice loose folk album of strong material with the full band leaning into their age would be really nice.

They sounded so damn good in the 2014-15 acoustic sets. Wish they played to smaller crowds and could do this more regularly.

It's wild that outside of the acoustic sets, Tim has never once played acoustic with the band since rejoining. No D&T encores, nothing. Not one time. A real shame. Putting Tim on acoustic and bouncing Rashawn aka me out would be so dope.

I actually hope "Let's Dance" sticks around this summer. Obviously, I don't want to hear five covers a night but hearing DMB play some Bowie would be awesome. I would rather hear "Let's Dance" than any song on CT or WATM.

I’d be cool with him adding the Golden Years lyrics back in the outro to Too Much.
