I really think they should have tried 4on4 for 10 minutes first following the lockout and if after 3 seasons or so if that didn't eliminate enough ties then go to the shootout. I enjoy it as well. Also, it's just not reasonable for fans, players, media, etc. to play until someone scores. But man, I hate ties... I even hate playing in games myself that end in ties... there's just no finality. At least if I lose, I've got that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that motivates me to go out and play harder the next game.
But again, is that compatible with regular season hockey? I don't know.
