In the car, around the house, and on my iPod w earbuds while running mostly. If 2018 is good to us in Alpine parking lots and a deer creek camp ground on a block rocker speaker.

    I think you'll be fine with mp3.

If you have a nice set of cans, or a good theater system at home, and are the type to just sit and listen to music, I'd say Flac is worth the extra money, but for casual normal person use, I don't see the point of spending more.

That being said, if you buy the Flac, you can easily convert those files to mp3 for portable/casual use. You can't make the mp3's better. So if you think you might at some point wanna get a system and sit around like an audio nerd and listen to this stuff, you might wanna buy the Flac.

I had the place to myself this evening and gave this a listen front to back tonight after seeing this thread get lively again from today's announcement.

    Damn, I love this set.

I'm still more or less sticking with my original ranking, but I'd definitely say Doobie Thing is a top 5 on this, and Snow Outside (surprisingly should be top 10. Snow Outside is still the one that has surprised me the most on how good it sounds and how much I like it; given that I'm generally thinking about a bathroom break if I hear it at a show I'm at.

I do. I use glass frames. Keeps my records safe from our two kittens. They'd love to destroy each and every spine of my records if given the chance. The frames keep them and their hair out, and still allows me to see where everything is.

It's a fantastic song; one of the best Dave has written in a long long time. I was smdh at your saying it's a piss song at shows.

    Re: DMB Live 25 - 5LP Vinyl (180g)

It's a little disappointing that this isn't mixed to be a proper digital download, the breaks occur where the sides of the vinyl are so it fades out after JTR, fades out after The Stone, etc. The 24-bit download is likely very similar to what was used to cut the vinyl, mixed into tracks - it's not slammed but it's not fully dynamic either but does sound very similar to the vinyl release; it's about on par with the more recent Live Trax series (DR9) so definitely very acceptable...would have been nice for $45 to see the entire thing mixed as one long playlist with the 16-bit mastered a little hot like this and the 24-bit left fully dynamic.

Those negatives aside I'm sure anyone that pays for this will be happy with the sound quality.

It appears all tracks except Snow Outside and BEF>Granny were taken from 16/44.1 and 16/48 DATs, some tracks have some weird anomalies in the upper frequencies but I expect that may have been due to condition of a DAT or something like that. Snow Outside and BEF>Granny are the only post-2010 tracks and I believe it was late 2010 they moved to 24/96 for archiving...totally a guess though. There's a summer 2010 Shotgun on here, it's got nothing over 24kHz so probably at that point they were recording in 24/48 (which is what NIN's Trent Reznor works in). Mastering and production/mixing is far more important than any of this shite anyway, just mentioning it for anyone who's interested.

Ohhhhh, I gotcha now. Yeah, I mean, set placement of this song has generally not been great for me, and I've just heard it a few too many times and too often for my liking.

But again, it is fantastic on this release!

Since this isn't actually one show, it wouldn't bother me as much, but it still sounds lazy to me.

    1) We'll all wait for that screen shot.

    2) That's a stupid reason to pay $100 for a record.

Yeah the rip I have sounds awesome.

As for people being wrong about not being a digital release, I don't think they were wrong at the time, I think the WH got crap for not releasing it so that's why we have it now.

It's great that the download is out for those who want it and do not have the vinyl. I really enjoy my Live 25 vinyl and won't be buying the download, but only out of financial reasoning. Partly, I also have a love / mostly hate relationship with downloads and losing material over the years due to broken externals and computers that crap out.

I wonder if I would have impulsively bought it if management had put the proper Kit Kat Jam on there, which would have created a variable of interest. If they decide that we're grandfathered in to receive the download that would be amazing or if there is a discount, I may reevaluate after the holidays. Either way, Live 25 is awesome.

Haha... me, too. Although I will always buy the LTs with bonus CDs right away when I get the email.

I think with shipping the box set was $184, plus $33 for the MP3s. I've paid $217 dollars for 25 songs. Me and my money are easily departed...

    Merry Christmas to Dave's kids!

I purchased this download, after entering my "account" to download the show the buttons seem dead. I have a MAC. Any advice?

p.s. its redic music today hasn't developed an app for mobile downloads. They're being left in the dust.

yeah, the download system is totally fucked and i routinely have to call them to reset my download.

I've found the only way to do it that *usually* works, is clicking the "download zip file" button, ONLY ONCE, and it generally takes a solid 90 seconds to start, but it generally does start. using the download manager NEVER works for me.

I did the download manager on a PC, but the problem seems similar. As someone else said, press the button only once and just wait. Mine took roughly a minute or two to start, but was fine once it did.

I pressed it a bunch of times when I first tried and it screwed everything up.

    $35 for mp3s? A little steep, eh?

So... they seriously had me pay $250 for the vinyl box set and didn't include the download and now want me to pay them $45 more for the same songs I already bought? Is this for real? Why would they not just email the people who bought the thing a code?

Because then they would get 45 dollars less from you.

I have had issues with my last two purchases. Still can't get LT39/LT40 to download, and couldn't get Live 25 last night. Also on a Mac. They've reset my downloads for the LT purchase many times.

I offered to pay shipping and just have them send me physical copies, but all DL sales are final.

They did tell me over the phone, if this helps, that if you bought it while signed into your warehouse account, you'll need to be signed in when you go to download, makes no sense but whatever. If the dl limits are reset, try signing into everything, going to your email with the link to the download/order, click the link, then click the download zip file button ONCE, and just let it sit, don't refresh anything, don't do jack shit, just sit there. I've had to sit there up to 5 minutes before the file actually started downloading, but when I've followed these steps, it's worked almost every time.
