While I respect the process, I couldn’t be more disappointed in our community for listing American Baby Intro, a song about nothing with a singular repetitive musical progression, as a better song than the behemoth that is Lying in the Hands of God. ABI is fortunate to continue its life as a LITHOG interpolation.

I’m shocked ABI made the list, but even more shocked LITHOG didn’t make the cut. I think that’s their best song in over 15 years, maybe more.

It's not on my top 50...but I just think, like many songs, it's a victim of WHEN it was released. If LITHOG were on Crash, I'm sure it'd be up there on the overall rankings...and if LIOG were part of Big Whiskey, it would've missed the cut.

Yes, you sure know what will come out on top, but what about the other picks you'll have to make? You may be surprised by your Elite Eight and Final Four. Have fun with it!

Certain first round match-ups are giving me trouble. I'm also trying to give each song another listen before making a pick. No rapid-fire! I'm having fun with it and drawing this out. After all, it was meant to help pass the quarantine time.

I think people can take their time filling out the bracket at their own leisure.

If we want to run an Ants consensus bracket based on a voting system, that could be run separately from each person filling out their own individual brackets. For the voting system, a Google Form like you (haiku.warrior) have already made for the First Four play-in round is probably better than starting new individual threads. I like the idea of opening a round at a time and taking votes for a week, syncing with the Drive-In Series. Since the first round has a lot of match-ups, we could maybe split into regions.

Depending on how long the Drive-In Series is (I'm not sure), how about something along these lines for a voting schedule?

Week-by-week syncing with Drive-In Series Shows:
-Week 1 (May 6-13): First Four Play-In Round (4 match-ups)
-Week 2 (May 13-20): GORGE Region First Round (8 match-ups)
-Week 3 (May 20-27): ALPINE Region First Round (8 match-ups)
-Week 4 (May 27-Jun 3): SPAC Region First Round (8 match-ups)
-Week 5 (Jun 3-10): RED ROCKS Region First Round (8 match-ups)

That's the thing for me, I could have made this list fresh once a day for 10 days and I know that the list would be significantly different each time. Close to 20 of the tunes I picked didn't make the pool of bracket-able songs, and that's likely to have a decent impact. There's already 10+ songs that I regret NOT putting on my list...

I had more fun than I expected digging through my library and putting all these head-to-head matchups together. It was enjoyable giving them more thought than the Song Game Thread since there is some weight and finality to this thing.

The powerhouses took care of business and the songs from Everyday were always starting from behind.

The unanimity was a little surprising. The fact they are bookends of UTTAD made it a really interesting matchup. The enjoyment I got from both of these songs stem from pure nostalgia. Dropping the "first" Dave CD (or tape) in and playing it from beginning to end. TBOWA kicking off with the drum lick leading into "Hey my friends!" Or after listening to the whole thing through sitting in waiting for the CD player to track through to 34 for the great jam session of #34. I had a hard time picking, but the smile from that drum lick was the winner for me.

Oh, and my bracket is busted!

Interesting to have the 11 knock off the 6 and the 10 knock off the 7 and the 9 knock off the 8. Those first 2 are pretty decent upsets for a bracket that was generated by fan rankings. Looking forward to seeing whether there will be any upsets in the Red Rocks region

First off, thanks to everyone who voted.
Here are the results for the Red Rocks region:

Pig manhandles Joyride, 18 votes to 2.
Rapunzel manages to slide past Halloween, 55% to 45%, or 11-9.
JTR easily manages to move past Too Much, 15 to 5.
Ants Marching also accomplishes the same, beating Proudest Monkey, 15-5.
After a slow start, Say Goodbye overcomes What You Are with 12 votes to 8.
Seek Up beats Stay or Leave, 70% to 30% (14 to 6.)
Raven moves on, beating Drive In Drive Out with 16 votes to 4.
The Dreaming Tree easily beats Loving Wings, 17 to 3.

As my wife filled out her bracket our 9 yr-old (soon to be 10), he started asking us additional ones, e.g.: "Samurai Cop or Dreaming Tree". So I hit him hard with his favorites: "Grace Is Gone or Time Bomb"...after his long hard think Grace won out.
