    Re: A Dream So Real

I starting enjoying the lyrics of ADSR much more when I thought of it from the perspective of a soldier fighting overseas.... Longing for his girl back home.

    Falling hard
    Falling fast
Somehow land with both feet on the Ground
A dream so real so inspired
I can still smell the smoke and the fire
What I fear what I fear the most Unthinkable thing is that somehow I will Never again feel my arms around you

    Oh, when I'm gone
    And lost
    Too far away
    Try and remember sometimes
The way I make you laugh, and make You Smile little things keep me going

A little boy with broken arms
    He used to dream
    That he could fly
    A dream so real
    So inspired
He jumped from the top of the stairs
For a moment he was there
Wings spread, wide as the sky
But then of course, the world pulled him Down he crash landed on the ground

    Oh, when I'm gone
    Feeling lost and far away
    Try to remember sometimes
I'm gonna fall before I fly
    Little things keep me going

    With every step
    If we were sure
What the next step should be
Well then at least we could be sure
    How we ended up here

    How we ended up here

    Oh, when I'm gone
    Feeling lost to far away
    Try to remember sometimes
I'm gonna fall before I fly
    Little things keep me going

    Keep me going

Personally I like the upbeat songs at a show and prefer them. I like the energy it brings. The two set deal has a great mellow beginning acoustic set where a lot of these songs fit well to bring the energy for the electric set.
I remember when slow songs were adored at live shows. It helps that DMB's slow songs were overall better back then, but the live show has become this bigger, more bombastic thing than it used to be. It's less about the music than it used to be. I suppose one could argue the quality of the music is partly to blame for that decline, but I'd say it's more about the 'feed me now' generation.

ADSR was always alright in my book, here's hoping for a proper send off of the song by getting a '07 show released some years down the road.

Just another reason to release 10/2/07 one day. Such a beautiful version of ADSR opening the set. I know it's not the strongest opener, but it's a beautiful version of the song.

ADSR needs a proper keyboardist for it to work as well as it did.

Adsr openers were one of the reasons why 07 was so terrible

Beautiful song, but I can see it not working as an opener (though I'm perfectly ok with a "slower" song opening, such as Pendulum by Pearl Jam). I'd be ok with not hearing it live either, I definitely prefer other softer/chill songs. All in all an excellent song.

This song desperately needs to come back. I think they stopped playing it in 2008 because Dave didn't like playing the piano part....but they have a keyboardist now.

Funny you would mention this, for the last week or so I've listened to ADSR just about everyday. I think it's a beautiful song, obviously Roi flowed on it but Jeff couls do the same.

I love this tune. A studio version would be great.

I love this tune. The few versions we have released are great, but the 2007 version at the Gorge N2 is the absolute best. They just nailed it. Check out the tapes.

I think this song would fit in on a new album.. Bismarck, Death on the High Seas, A Dream So Real, Shotgun, Sweet up and Down... Count me in!

    Re: A Dream So Real

First time I heard this I couldn't believe it was Dave on the little solo. Very Carlos Santana and Willie Nelson. Perfect and tasteful.

I think the lyrics are top notch too. This is like 90's Dave writing. The lyrics stand along as amazing, which many of the newer tunes do not. It's poetry but to music, not You & Me baby... which is more pop esque... Not knocking any of the stuff, but there's is brilliance in the writing when Dave is able to find the inspiration/work...
