It was ok, but I didn't think it was hilarious. I'm sure i'm in the minority, but I thought Pineapple Express was better(didn't they come out the same year?)

Really liked this movie. Had never heard of it somehow honestly, I guess it was mixed reviews. I really enjoyed it, a good Friday night w the wife movie.

I loved that movie! Very underrated, imo.

The family went to see Sider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. We loved it. My wife as no use for superhero movies, but she enjoyed it. Great story, lots of fun, some darkness, great cast...one of my favorite comic movies to date. Looking forward to some sequels should they decide to go that route, for which they've obviously laid the ground work.

Haven't seen the movie yet and likely won't be seeing it in the theaters, but she did this for a LOT of paychecks. She'll be in the next Avengers movie and sequel or two. Financially, it's a smart move for an actor...maybe even more so if you've won a best actor in the last few years. Despite what that accolade, not everyone benefits from winning an Oscar.

One of the things for me is that I like Brie as an actress. We were introduced to her via United States of Tara, and then enjoyed Short Term 12 and Room. We saw in a couple of other things that were middling...she was fine in them, but the movies themselves were meh. I feel like she was miscast for this role, not unlike how I felt about Gal as Wonder Woman. That said, I've enjoyed Gal as Wonder Woman.

    The Sting

Y'all were talking about it, so I knocked it out. WOW, pretty much nothing wrong with this movie. Absolutely fantastic. Cant believe I hadn't seen it before. Love the dynamic with Redford and Newman.

    Leaving Neverland.

    The Glass Castle - 7/10
Very formulaic structure that would've felt even more Lifetime-y if not for Harrelson's performance.

Sorry To Bother You - 7.5/10
Started off really great, then got chaotically insane, but not in an awful way. Would have rated it much higher if a lot of the interpersonal narratives that get started in the first act don't fall apart loose as hell by the middle of the film, and just become awkward and clunky when they're "resolved" by the end of the film.

Destroyer is a cop-turned-criminal-seeks redemption crime drama. Nicole Kidman is almost unrecognizable in it. Great performance, good story. I also enjoyed the soundtrack.

felt the same way — I liked all the batshit crazy stuff but it did take away from the personal story in a way

The Shaoe of Water — While I enjoyed it overall, it telegraphed everything. As soon as I saw the scars on her neck I knew... very well acted though. Michael Shannon looks the part of a baddy more than any other modern actor that I can think of.

    Layer Cake

Classic case of a movie thinking it is smarter than it actually is. At some point the twists and turns took away from the narrative. They also had to tell... A lot... Rather than show for the sake of keeping cards up their sleeve.

I think this could have been much better if they took out a couple of the twists and told a more straightforward narrative.

Disney was in it's prime when I was a kid. The musical/singing aspect always took me out of those movies. It's why I gravitated extra hard to Pixar. No singing.

Never in my life have I been walking along and seen someone break out into song and dance to advance the narrative of their situation. It totally takes me out of a movie.

It's a wonder I liked La La Land as much as I did.

Musicals almost always miss the mark for me.

From someone who absolutely hated the teaser trailer, this trailer made the film look WAY better. And I'm glad they're not going with weird blue Will Smith the whole film. Might actually see this.
