Not to say the square footage number doesn’t matter, but it can be really deceiving. Not all square footage is equal in its ability to be used well - when we were looking for a house in mid 2019, we viewed some houses with more square footage than the house we eventually purchased, but that felt smaller/tighter due to the layout.

I’d way rather a house with 2,500sqft that has a nice layout over a 3,500sqft or whatever maze of hallways and unusable space.

Personally, I take a ton of pride in the fact that my wife and I bought this place entirely on our own and have worked really hard the past 4.5 years to get it to where it is today.
