My experience with the exploding was the Cunning Stunts video in the safety of my parents' living room and, even as a pretty naive teenager, I knew that must be part of the act

I remember thinking they wouldn't put out a live video with a major disaster happening on stage, especially not a few years after Hetfield was burned

Yeah that was mine too at McNichols in Denver. I knew it wasn’t real but was still awesome. I was second deck and could still feel the heat!

It holds about 800-1000 people. It's pretty tiny.

As jmkratt knows... I like to spread Dream Theater around.

They just released their remastered show in which they covered the entirety of the Puppets album. If you have apple music it's worth a listen.

Seems like they turned the singer down in the remaster which is nice.

I was really into DT in the mid-late 90's and early 2000's, but haven't listened to them as much the last 10 years or so. I like some of the stuff I have heard with Mangini, just need to give it more of a listen. Just checked Spotify and that Master of Puppets show is there along with a couple other albums named 'Lost Not Forgotten Archives'.

Yeah, they are remastering and re-releasing all of their bootleg (formerly Ytse Jam Records) stuff under 'Lost Not Forgotten Archives'.

Who was it that did Halloween cover albums? Was that DT or Phish?

Anyway, been listening to St. Anger, and it's a piece of shit that I can't get out of my head. It's really unique, for better or for worse.

Halloween the band? That sounds fun.

    It definitely wasn't DT.

Ah, must've been Phish. They would "dress up" by playing a cover album on Halloween (not the band )

Phish definitely did the Halloween "musical costume" thing — the white album, Remain in Light, Quadrophenia, Loaded by Velvet Underground, Exile on Main St., I'm forgetting a few

That awesome, I will check it out. I remember watching Petrucci play all those songs effortlessly. Dude is soooo good.

I saw them at The Fox Theater in Oakland on that tour of smaller venues they did right around the time Hardwired came out

That holds about 2.5K, if I remember right. I doubt I'll ever be closer to the band than I was that night. Neat to be close enough to watch Kirk and James' fingers on the fretboards without having to watch a video screen

Pretty cool that they do shit like this sometimes

Playing another surprise show at the Metro in Chicago tonight. Wristbands sold out like 15 minutes ago. I was not lucky enough to see the announcement early or I would have tried.

Damn, have tickets for Sundays show and my foster kid was diagnosed with Leukemia a couple months back. With his lack of vaccine and poor immune system, no way we can go an potentially expose ourselves to a crowd. Glad we can at least watch it at home. Hope everyone has an awesome time out there, its looking to be an epic weekend for Metallica fans.

Wow that was something. Fixxxer debut! I got like 5 songs I’ve never personally seen live before and get to do it all again Sunday. Can’t wait.

Reddit folks noticed the set went chronologically from KEA to Hardwired

I wonder if Sunday will do the opposite and open with a Hardwired song and work backward to KEA?

That’s pretty cool… wonder why Breadfan was the only one out of order?
