Had a guy leave a 2-minute voice message on my work phone yesterday because a short story I ran about two kids committing to play D-1 football apparently violated NCAA rules Dude cursed me out for two minutes, told me he could do a better job than all of us and that he would turn me over to the NCAA.

"I will violate you," was the supreme highlight. Not even irritated. Funniest fucking thing to happen in my near 6 years at the paper here

people that cut lines like that are the worst, but I will say that far too often when merging, some people do not use the merge lane appropriately and instead prefer to go reallllly really slow or essentially stop altogether trying to merge. the merge lane is there for a reason - use it!

Ran over a big chunk of tire on the highway Sunday (it was unavoidable due to cars in both lanes on either side of me). Ripped up the wheel well liner. No big deal, it’s a cheap replacement. Today my front end started shaking, probably out of alignment.

Lyft and Uber drivers and the TNC staging lot 1 & 2 at the San Francisco Airport. I don't drive for either, but somehow always get caught in their traffic because some drivers are inconsiderate pricks. Don't wait in the line of cars trying to get into the lot, jump in the next lane over, cut ahead of everyone then slam on your brakes and block a whole lane of traffic so you can merge back into the one line of cars. I wish SFO or Uber/Lyft could figure out a way to limit the cars that go to the TNC lots. If theres 200 spots between two lots and both lots are full, why are 200 more cars trying to get into the lot. They get turned away from one lot, then go to the other. They just drive in circles and fucks up traffic.

My wife hits absolutely everything in the road. Debris, potholes, whatever... she’ll find it and hit it.

nope, not her... I’m usually really good about avoiding stuff in the road but this one was unavoidable. We were all going about 75/80, cars on either side of me. Car in front of me hits their brakes slightly and the I see this huge chunk of tire come out from under his car. I had no option but to plow right over it, yell a few expletives and stop to check it out a couple exits down.

Seemed the damage was contained to tearing the lining of the wheel well. I cut off the excess and it drove fine until we got back into town yesterday. Hoping it’s limited to either being out of alignment or a bent rim. Don’t really want to deal with suspension issues.

Out of alignment vibrations are different from bent wheel vibrations, IMO. Normally your car won't vibrate instantly after being knocked out of alignment. It'll take some miles for the uneven tire wear to rear it's head.

My money is on bent wheel or just knocked out of balance.

I might be alone on this one but this has been bothering me for years and I've never 'vocalized' it.

When you go to use the urinal, and you've stepped into position, and the dude next to you suddenly looks over at you and stares are you for a second. Why? What is so interesting about who is standing next to you? Why do you feel the need to make eye contact at this point? Is it really necessary?

This happens every day at my work, and it's probably 50% of people who do it, but it annoys me every time. I've never looked over at the guy next to me because it's the worst time of any to be making eye contact with other men. Baffled by why people do this and again, I'm probably alone but I feel better ranting about it.

Probably just an urge to look up at someone when they enter your space. Or how if someone points, you're gonna look at what they're pointing towards, or the "circle" game, etc.

I've noticed that I make a conscious effort to turn away from the person next to me at a urinal if I finish first, even if turning towards them makes the most sense for leaving the space.

I thought of a good irritant fitting for this thread.

My SUV has an automatic tailgate. It bothers me when someone else manually pushes it closed. I don't know of any proof that it's bad for the motor or hydraulics or anything, but it just doesn't seem right. Like when a handicap door is opening and you try to push it open faster but are met with more resistance.

It was the tire(s). Took it to the dealership, they wanted $80 just to look at it. Took it down the road to the alignment place and he drove it around the block, came back and said “not the alignment, just replace your tires” handed me my keys and didn’t charge me.
