On the other hand, their 30th anniversary shows were pretty non-standard

Hard to know what to expect, I think. Different venue, different stage in their career

Yeah, those 30th shows were wild. Totally unpredictable sets, incredible guests (So What with Animal had to be just mind blowing live), and a very small venue for the band.

But, having done that once I would guess they arent going to do a repeat. And I hope I'm 100% wrong about that.

They definitely set the bar pretty damn high at XXX

Yeah, I don't see them topping XXX

I don't know how they could

If folks walk into MTF expecting Fixxxer and nothing less, they're gonna have a bad time

But if they go in expecting some vague notion of "cool shit," I think they'll probably meet that bar

They'll find a way to make the evening distinct/memorable, I expect

Agreed. Fixxxer would be amazing though

Still a majority of the upper level left. Looks like a lot of opportunity for the 2nd chance drawing.

Fixxxer is a great tune. Took me a while to really get into it, because it's so different from other Met tunes, but I love it. That and Outlaw Torn.

Yeah I'd love to but no way I can make that happen after locking down the SF shows.

I did pick up both the slip on and high top Metallica Vans though

Saw the shoes are mostly sold out online. Awesome. Didn't think they'd fly that fast off the bat. They're cool, but I passed on them as well.

Sirius ch. 40 is all Metallica right now.

This song (The End of the Line) popped on and I was like... hmmm... I don't remember this song and I kind of like it. Then it just droned on with no Riffs and I realized, oh yeah, it's a Death Magnetic song.

Station is playing some great stuff though! After this was Holier, TTSNB, Spit out the bone...

If Death Magnetic were mixed better, it would be better respected, imo

Everything is flattened into a loud sludge

Based on their social media it sounds like they're about to announce a tour. Guessing it's for summer 2022?

There are some really good songs on that album, but the mix is absolute fucking shit. Damn shame.

I'm not sure the mix could do much about the lack of Riffs.

Dave being the only OG member on stage tonight at The Gorge got me thinking about Metallica improvising in 2000 when Hetfield was unavailable for a few shows

They were on tour with Korn, Kid Rock, System of a Down and Powerman 5000 and members from all of those groups except P5K filled in

For me it was '97 Nassau Colosseum, the tour where all their shit exploded on stage (Cunning Stunts?).

IIRC, we didn't know until they came on stage if he was going to play that night?
